You squeeze a square out and throw it straight into the pan while it's still frozen so you never get the harsh raw garlic smell that my dad hates.
As it unfreezes it will mix into the sauce of whatever you're cooking and then you can start to smell it as it's cooking. Obviously you couldn't use it in any recipe that doesn't need the garlic to be cooked for long because the square does take a bit to melt but for anything else they're brilliant. I brought this because I have lately got some cookbooks to try and be a bit more adventurous in the kitchen. One of the cookbooks I got was for Italian dishes and most of them needed garlic, I love it and would be no good as a vampire but my dad can't stand the smell of raw garlic and he can sniff it out it I'm crushing garlic and it proper makes him heave.
