Hundreds and thousands are essentially tiny multicolured sugar balls in a handy container with both a shaking and a pouring option. Each tub weighs 113g and contains thousands of these tiny balls, more than enough to decorate several dozen buns or a very generously sprinkled large cake or two. They can be applied directly from the container via the handy shaker although with vigorous shaking they do seem to end up everywhere. You can also pour them into a bowl and dunk your upturned bun but this tends to result in large blobs of runny icing in the bowl and sticky partially icing covered balls everywhere. Still its great fun and brings back some fabulous ... Read the complete review

I would hate to think how many of these little balls we go through in a year, it would certainly run into way more than hundreds or thousands. Hundreds and Thousands are little balls of candy, other manufacturers use the name for sugar strands as well, and they're pretty much the same thing, just a different shape. The most obvious use for these is to decorate cakes, which usually means icing the cakes first, and then in the case of fairy cakes, dipping the iced section into mass of these little balls that have been poured out onto a plate. I find it easier to do it this way, than to use the shaker opening at the top, because no mater how careful ... Read the complete review

I have lots of nieces and nephews and like to make lots of cakes and thankfully the two combinations work very well together! Today I have baked some fairy cakes using the Tesco Value sponge mix, I have topped it with some Sainsbury's Plain Chocolate (mixed with a little water) and then once everything has cooled a little I poured on liberal amounts of these hundreds and thousands. I paid 85p for a 113g pot which will last me for around 60 fairy cakes (generous coating on each of the cakes) and I think this shows fantastic value for money. At present each pot of hundreds and thousands (and many other Dr Oetker products) has a voucher inside which is ... Read the complete review

I like to have pretty things like this in my cupboard to serve no other purpose than to make things look better and more appealing to the eye.......hang on let me rephrase that........more appealing to my eye, no one else in the house could care less to be honest. I ran out of sugar strands so I decided to pick up a tub of these instead which cost me around 90p for a 115g from Tesco. I was quite impressed with this price because thisis just the type of thing that places like to charge you a bomb for. For those of you who don't know, 'hundreds and thousands' are tiny coloured balls made of sugar and are most commonly seen on ice ... Read the complete review

When I was much younger, I would spend hours baking with my Grandma. She's a wonderful cake maker! We would sift through all her recipes, finding one I fancied baking, and nine times out of ten it would be the marble cake or the coffee cake ~ I loved them! But I am no cook myself, if baking at home its always fairy cakes or cupcakes! Though I do go overboard when baking them, having them all fancy decorated! One of the decorations I like to use is the Dr Oetkers Hundreds and Thousands. Packaging: The Hundreds and Thousands come in a round plastic tub. It has quite a pinky tint to its shiny plastic label, which for me is a delight, with a matching ... Read the complete review
