English Provender Company.

I requested this category ages ago .It was eventually created and now I have eventually got round to writing my opinion. This is mostly because I have just had some of their spicy onion and garlic relish with a bread roll and some cheese.

The E.P.C. makes chutney’s sauces, marmalades, salad dressings, and pickles using traditional open pan cookery.

I have had several of their relishes and I shall tell you about the onion and garlic one I have just eaten and the mango, plum &ginger chutney I have in my cupboard.

The relish and chutney come in 6 cm square glass jars with green labelling quite simple and attractive.

Both are suitable for vegetarians, vegans and coeliac sufferers, both have to be relih and both the relish and the chutney have to be refrigerated after opening.

The onion and garlic relish contains onions, garlic, chillies, and cayenne pepper vinegar, sugar, and black pepper.

I eat it when I fancy a relish with my cheese or pate. I eat it with cold meats and as an extra with a curry.

The relish is a golden brown colour. The thick smooth sauce has finely chopped pieces of the vegetables in it. The sauce is smooth the vegetables crispy when you eat it .it tastes a little sweet, too sweet my husband says. As you crunch the vegetables, they release their flavour, the garlic and chilli not too strong and hot just waking your mouth up with a tingle. I like this relish a lot.

The mango, plum ginger chutney contains mangoes, vinegar, plums apples, onions, and ginger and garlic powder
I eat this usually with a curry ,occasionally with cheese ,as an extra when I fancy something spicy with a meal

The chutney is a light golden brown with a few pieces of plum which are obvious and a few smaller pieces, which I imagine, are the onions and apple, yes that piece I just ate was a small piece of apple the veg/fruit not as crunchy as in
the onion and garlic
The taste is still fairly sweet the sauce is sweet and spicy and you can tell the different fruit/veg I like this relish particularly with a curry.
I have tried a few other of E.P.C relishes and chutneys. This company also makes sweet sauces does a Belgium chocolate sauce, orange and rose flower water

There is a good website giving information about their produce www.englishprovender co.uk
The English provender company seems to provide good traditional sauces.
Thanks for reading Mary
