Lurking amongst the root vegetables on our supermarket shelves, there is often root ginger. Attractive to those of us who like to add a little spice and interest to our food, these roots are a dark biscuit brown on the outside with knobbles or antlers making for a very strange looking foodstuff. The interior of the root is typically pale or straw coloured with a slightly woody appearance. Without doubt whole fresh roots still provide the freshest taste and pungency. If you like to cook curries from scratch, enjoy the odd stir fry or Middle Eastern cuisine, this is definitely a product you will find invaluable. I have been using Very Lazy Ginger for a year or so now and I always have a jar in my fridge. I'm not sure whether that makes me a very lazy cook but it certainly means that I'm always prepared for recipes which call for root ginger as an ingredient and there's never any need to peel some knobbly misshapen piece of fresh ginger before grating.
