Advantages: Get a decent amount.
Disadvantages: Bit gritty and too sweet.
When somebody goes off on holiday in the UK I wrongfully expect two out of three things from them. Most importantly is a postcard. Then a stick of rainbow coloured rock or if they go to Devon some of their clotted cream fudge. This was what I received from somebody who I thought was a friend!
It looks as though it should taste nice. Although each piece does not have the slightly smooth and glowing texture which I associate with nice fudge, it still has the right colour even if it does feel a bit gritty. The bag in which I received these little morsels was a bit different from the one in the picture-green rather than orange and although they were not individually wrapped it might of been better if they were. Leaving my fingers with what looked like white chalk powder and even a bit dry.
It was a bit chewy when I bit into it and not like how fudge should be. Instead of falling apart it was almost like eating a slightly warmed up toffee. Albeit with a different flavour.
It is very sweet. Which is what you'd expect but this is too much. I got the same sensation when somebody puts 2 sugars in my tea rather than just the one. Now I've tried a variety of fudges and I've never consumed one a bit like this. There is a very vague resemblance to the taste of real fudge, a bit buttery but that's about as far as it goes before you get wacked in the face with a bag full of gritty granulated sugar.
Each bag contains about 200g so you're getting 20-25 pieces altogether. For the cost of £2.79 you may think hmm good value, although I'd rather of spent the money on proper devon fudge and only of gotten 3 chunks.
Obviously as these are dairy free the only ingredients being sugar, soya milk, vanilla and glucose syrup, it's going to be difficult for the company to make it taste right. More than likely aimed at those who are vegan or lactose intolerant.
Overall they've had a good go at it but it's not something I'd go out and buy. Best to save your money on something a bit more worthwhile and don't go around giving it as a substitute to somebody because it is pretty disappointing.
