Fabulous Bakin Boys Flapjack Fingers
by angelboouk This is a review of The Fabulous Bakin' Boys Purple Berry Flapjacks. I hope I am putting the review in the correct place as the bars do say Flapjack Fingers. Fabulous Bakin' Boys produce various sweet products including muffins, loafs and flapjacks. *Product* FBB Purple Berry Flapjacks are individually ... wrapped flapjack fingers. Each flapjack is an oaty finger infused with blueberries and blackcurrant jam. They are freshly baked in Oxfordshire in a nut free zone! *Packaging* The flapjacks are contained in a fully 75% recycled cardboard box. The box is a berry purple shade and is very fitting to the flavour. The front of the box has the company logo and product name/description. There is also an appetising image of a delicious flapjack. The back of the box has a bit about the Red Berry variety of flapjack and contact details for the company. On the side panel there is an ingredients list, nutritional information, allergy advice and storage advice. Each flapjack is individually wrapped in a mainly see through plastic wrapper with blue edging. The product name is on the wrapper. *The Flapjack* The actual flapjack is smaller than a standard size chocolate bar in length though slightly bigger than your treat size bars. It is quite deep and has an obvious oaty appearance. The flapjack is golden brown with small purple fruity pieces and a sticky glaze coating the exterior. *Ingredients* Oats 43%, golden syrup, vegetable oil, sugar, butter, blackcurrant jam 4.8%, glucose syrup, sugar, blackcurrant puree 2.5%, gelling agent, acidity regulators, colour, raisins, freeze dried blueberries 0.5%, blueberry flavour and blackcurrant flavour. Contains gluten and milk products. Suitable for vegetarians. *Nutrition* Each flapjack contains : 128kcal 8.9g sugar 1.5g saturated fat *Availability and Price* I checked the website and I am under the impression these have been discontinued. Other Bakin Boys products can be found in major supermarkets and discount stores such as B&Ms and Poundland. I purchased my box of Purple Berry Flapjacks from Home Bargains at 49p. This is for a box of 6. *My Opinion* I am a bit weird when it comes to flapjacks..I can take them or leave them. I had never heard of Fabulous Bakin' Boys til I seen reviews of the Cupcakes on here. I spotted these beauties at 49p a box in HB and thought that it wasn't a massive amount to lose if I didn't like them. When it comes to packaging, I feel most of the time boxes are un-needed though in this case, it provides protection from the flapjacks becoming bashed. It is very attractive and appealing and the little bars are perfect for lunchboxes and they aren't too big or too small. The appearance of the flapjacks is rather sticky and glazed so it looks rather different to plain and boring oaty flapjacks! I am pleased to see some juicy looking pieces of blueberries and a slight infusion of blackcurrant jam running through the flapjack. The jam and berries combination work perfectly together and fuse the oats to avoid them coming apart. The actual flapjack is mouth wateringly soft and easy to bite into. The oats melt in your mouth providing a sweet yet fruity taste sensation that would be hard to match with any other flapjack. The blueberries were sweet and juicy and did not taste processed. The overall taste was a little sugary and you certainly couldn't eat more than 1 in a sitting without feeling sick. If you fancy these then head on down to Home Bargains and pick up a box. Tell them angelboouk recommends them. Oh calories and sugar etc aren't too bad either so enjoy without feeling guilty about the diet! Thanks for reading :) Read the complete review |

Fabulous Bakin Boys Flapjack Fingers
by DavyMichelle I tried one of these Fabulous Bakin Boys Flapjack Fingers only very recently, and that's only because I got one for free with a promotional packet of Bakin' Boys cupcakes! I have to say first up that these are actually quite small, so I think they've been designed with children in mind. They're called 'fingers' for a ... reason! I do like that they're individually wrapped though, as this makes them ideal for putting into lunchboxes or grabbing for something to eat while you're on the go. When I bit into the first of my two flapjacks (well, we had two packs of those promotional cupcakes...), I immediately fell in love. I couldn't believe how soft, buttery and syrupy these were! The taste was extremely sweet and creamy, and I had polished off the first one in a matter of seconds! I made a grab for the second, and was just about satisfied after eating both. So, either they really are child-sized, or I'm a total pig then. Now to the down side, as anything that tastes this amazing must have one. The nutritional contents are just shocking. One tiny finger of golden oaty flapjack contains 130 calories along with an amazing 6.4g of fat. That's just jaw-dropping for something so tiny (around 25g I believe). There's also 8.4g of sugar in one of these babies. These really are melt-in-the-mouth tasty, but that fat and sugar level is just shocking. Eating two at once, which wasn't hard to do in about six bites altogether, meant I consumed nearly 13g of fat and 17g of sugar - and still felt a bit peckish right after. I'd have done better to eat a Snickers I reckon. I reccomend them for skinny kids who could do with a midday energy boost, but the rest of us had better steer clear I guess. Fabulous Bakin Boys Flapjack Fingers
by Paisley_Moon If there are two things that I like a lot, it's Flapjacks and Buy One Get One Free offers. So when I spotted these Fabulous Bakin' Boys Flapjack Fingers on offer in Tesco.... I just had to try them. Usually they retail at £1.30 for a 168g box. You get five fingers (6.5cm length, 2cm width) per pack. The packaging itself ... has a cut out section so you can see clearly what you are buying. I like the fact that these are individually wrapped as it makes them very lunchbox friendly. It also appears to keep them fresh and moist, which is also favourable as I'm not keen on dry flapjacks. The variety that I purchased was Golden Oaty and man the aroma of Golden Syrup hits you as soon as you tear open the wrapper. So it is no surprise that they taste very sweet indeed and that is ok by me as I have a very sweet tooth indeed! It is also stated on the packaging that these contain no hydrogenated fats, artificial flavours or preservatives.. Which in my opinion is a good thing. They are 130 calories per finger though so weight watchers beware. Altogether, these make a tasty snack, perfect as part of a packed lunch or just dunked in your tea. I'm not sure that I would buy these at regular price, but they are excellent VFM at buy one get one free. My suggestion is, if you like the sound of them then fill your boots while they are still on offer! Read the complete review |
