Advantages: How can there be a downside? Its chocolate and its versatile

Disadvantages: Calories maybe, I dont like to think about that

Now, being a hardened chocolate fiend, I am not ashamed to admit that I happily devour Nutella by the spoonful. I ostensibly bought my last jar so that my 4 year old daughter could experience the delights of this creamed chocolate and hazelnut combo. I mean, what kind of mother would I be if I didnt introduce my offspring to the wonder of eating liquid chocolate out of the jar-this is the stuff dreams are made of! Ok, so my daughter got a lick of the spoon once, maybe twice, but I would repeatedly creep into the kitchen to get my fix, and within days the jar was empty. Do I need help?


*What is Nutella?*:

Nutella is a delicious creamy chocolate, hazelnut and milk spread that is brought to you from the Ferrero company. Yes, those wonderful Italian chaps/chapesses who gave us chocoholics the 'Ferrero Roche'.Nutella is undoubtably packed with calories, but with the understanding that its goodness lies in the nutritious hazelnut and plentiful calcium giving milk ingredients. I choose to ignore the calorific content, as the euphoria I feel when stuffing myself with Nutella might be compromised by an emotion termed 'guilt', and this just wouldnt do.


*What can I do with Nutella?*:

Nutella has many possible uses in a culinary sense, and possible some extra ones that I wont divulge here......Yes, Nutella can be spread on bread, crumpets, toast, and I guess could be used to fill a Victoria sandwich. I expect it would make a quite delectable filling in any home baked chocolate cake.In fact Im going to try that out. As I mentioned beforehand, I tend to prefer to eat Nutella by the spoonful out of the jar-pure decadence you might say. Well, there is that, but the laziness factor comes into play here too. Nutella, arguably is a meal in its self, so why complicate matters by adding bread etc....If you simply want a pure chocolate hit simply reach for the jar, and feel sated.


*From Where and for What price can I get Nutella?*:

Nutella is not an uncommon feature of most supermarket 'spreads' aisles, so locating it should not be a problem. Though *beware* of cheap, own brand immitations, they will break your heart with their promises of chocolate satisfaction. In my view, Nutella is the King of the hazelnut/choc spreads and should not be immitated by frankly substandard fare. There is something quite special about the slightly quaint and dated looking Nutella label that makes me feel that I am eating something wholesome and traditionally produced. On the label, the sweet little buttercup positioned next to hazelnuts and a nutella covered slice of bread adds to its rustic appeal. Actually, the jar looks so 'foreign' that I almost feel as though Ive aqcuired forbidden chocolate from master chocolatiers abroad.
Personally, I think the Ferrero label itself exudes class and sophistication, and that makes me feel a teeny weeny bit naughty when I scrape the jar out with my spoon.
Nutella costs about 75p for a measly 200g jar, approx £1.50 for a 400g jar, and a hefty £2.40ish for a whopping 750g jar.


So, if you are a chocoholic like me, need I preach to the converted? Just get on yer bike and buy it. You wont be disappointed. If you arent a chocolate lover, then let this be your introduction to the wonder of the cocoa bean. Yes, Nutella is a good place to begin on your journey to chocolate heaven.
Ok, it is merely melted chocolate and creamed hazelnuts squished into a jar, but boy does it taste hot.

Summary: Yummy chocolate and hazelnut spread. Do with it what you will.
