Advantages: Tasty, filling and kind to the waist line
Disadvantages: Unsuitable for people with allergies (nut, gluten, etc)
Along with ham sandwiches Nutella has become one of my staple meals, mainly because I'm very lazy and need a healthy dose of sugar in the morning before I'm capable of even the most basic physiological functions. Then again that's probably a bit of placebo effect, since Nutella doesn't really have that much sugar in it. Yeah, my mind is stupid.
Stupid mind...
Nutella is basically one of five trillion thousand brands of chocolate spread, except this one is actually nice and doesn't leave you with a crippling sense of self disgust after attacking it with a spoon. The spread actually has a very low fat content, only being 80 calories per 15 grams, and is made from relatively natural products, such as skimmed milk, low fat cocoa powder and hazelnuts. Whilst I'm not a massive fan of nuts, salted peanuts accepted, Nutella only has hint of nuttiness, despite being quite rich. In fact Nutella is so healthy it's even aimed at kids, which is a risky step since a company that advertises chocolate for the youngsters will usually find themselves getting lynched by trading standards.
Like most chocolate spreads Nutella works best with fresh warm toast, a couple of slices of which can be surprisingly filling and more than enough to tide you over until lunch. It also lasts quite a long time, since the spread is quite rich and a little can go a lot further than you'd think. However, it might run out considerably faster if you're like me, and enjoy dipping a teaspoon in the jar every chance you get. That is why I make a point of having at least three jars in the cupboard at any one time.
Throughout my twenty one year lifespan I've had a great many chocolate spreads but Nutella still remains my personal favourite. It's healthy, tasty, and gives you enough energy to keep your mind on the work rather than the Subway next door. If I actually had kids this would probably be the only confectionary I'd let them eat, since I'm pretty sure it won't put them into sugar overdrive. So don't make do with Tesco's own brand cocoa sludge, get the best.
Summary: Probably the only time I'll eat hazelnuts
