These are my absolute favourite treats at the moment. They are so unique being not your usual milk or dark chocolate but not as sickly sweet as most white chocolates. Appearances first. The Raffaello's are small spheres, about the size of a ferrero rocher (and are also made by ferrero actually). They are snowy white and coated with coconut. This makes them look fluffy and delicious, and gives them a delicious scent as soon as you open the box. Unfortunately it also means that they're a bit messy as flakes of coconut have a tendency to drop off en route from the box to your mouth. In terms of taste these are just gorgeous. Ferrero Roche appeared in the chocolate areas of shops a few years ago and neither Hubby nor I ever liked them. To me they taste of cheap praline chocolate and are a little sickly. I imagine they are cheap to manufacture and are dressed up in the advertising as something a bit more glamorous. A couple of years later Ferrero started to retail Raffaello and these were a somewhat different matter. My Hubby in particularly loves coconut and I do not dislike a little. Raffaello also fit the bill for 'im in doors as he tries to avoid chocolate, much as he loves it, as it seems to aggravate his migraines. These sweets are described on the packaging as crisp ... I’m sure I’ve said this before, but I have a fondness for coconut. I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, but I am still unable to resist a Bounty bar and have recently been delighted to observe that the dark chocolate one seems to be making something of a comeback and stocked in more places than before. When there were several variants on the Bounty theme about four years ago, I sampled every single one, over and over again and was upset when they vanished. I’m such a fan I keep looking at the pots of Lush “Creamed Almond and Coconut Smoothie” shower soap and thinking how wonderful something like that would taste.
