Advantages: Excellent packaging and wrapping, tasty combination of wafer, chocolate and nuts

Disadvantages: Nutella!

Ferrero Rocher is an Italian chocolate made by the Ferrero Company, they are a relatively cheap chocolate that aims to be more classy than something like Roses and Quality Street.

Packaging
Ferrero Rocher come in boxes of various sizes, I have a box of 16 (well there were 16 originally!), the box itself is made from a good quality solid plastic and it has a ribbon like label with the label saying Ferrero Rocher on it along with a picture of one of the chocolates, the label is a white colour with a really nice gold colour edge which is reflective giving it a real high quality appearance. The box is transparent so you can see through it and get a good view of the chocolates inside, which are all picture perfect. Once you get the chocolates out the high quality feel is there too, each chocolate comes wrapped in a gold foil wrapping, as well as being put in a tiny paper cake case, which it is attached to so your chocolate will not fall out of its case and roll around during transit. To finish it off you get a little Ferrero Rocher sticker on the top of each of the chocolates on a gold and white label which completes the high quality look. Underneath the box you get your standard label with the nutritional information and the ingredients.

The Chocolate
The chocolate itself, once you have untangled it from its elaborate wrapping, is a round milk chocolate ball which is textured as there are nuts on the outer chocolate coating. Next you get a layer of crisp wafer which is really tasty and delicious as the timeless combination of wafer and chocolate always is, the nuts on the chocolate shell give it a really nice crisp taste aswell and are another safe play as chocolate and nuts always work together. Inside the chocolate you are treated to a sweet creamy chocolate filling, I at once identified this as Nutella which it probably is as the Fererro Company also happens to make Nutella! To finish it off you get another crunch as you get a whole hazelnut in the centre of your chocolate, a lovely touch and a great reward for making it all the way to the middle! Overall eating a Ferrero Rocher is a really enjoyable experience from pulling off the wrapping to consuming the delicious chocolate inside, the Nutella filling is the only thing that lets it down as it is slightly too sweet and I would have preferred a chocolate filling that didn't taste exactly of Nutella!

Nutritional Information
OK, it's a chocolate so naturally it's not going to be too good for you, but nowadays what is! A serving of 3 Ferrero Rocher chocolates (you could probably quite happily munch your way through the whole box of 16 lol!) contains 220 calories, 15grams of fat with 5 grams of that being saturated fat, 17 grams of carbohydrate and 4 grams of protein. Ferrero Rocher are not going to win any awards in your healthy eating magazines but as I said, it's a chocolate!

Price & Conclusion
A box of 16 Ferrero Rocher will cost you around £3, which is around the same as a small gift box of Roses or equivalent. You can also get boxes with more and some with less in, but I find the 16 box offers the best value for money. I find them much nicer than most chocolates and the slick presentation of the high quality box and wrapping make them a really presentable gift, that is if you're kind enough to give them away rather than scoff the box yourself! The only thing that is slightly disappointing is the use of the Nutella chocolate spread. With Easter just around the corner Ferrero have released a festive Ferrero egg, which may be worth checking out! 4/5

Summary: An excellent chocolate, its a shame about the Nutella!
