Advantages: taste great
Disadvantages: none
Ferrero Rocher. These chocolates to me are a luxury, because I only ever have them for birthdays or for Christmas. They have been around for many years but we very rarely have them. Yes you’ve guessed it I had some of these for Christmas. They come packaged in a clear plastic box or case. This is a good idea because once you have eaten all the chocolates you can then use the case to store things in and keep thing in a safe place. Ferrero Rocher are available all year round to buy in supermarkets as well as many other places. Do you know anyone who ever buys them at any other time of year apart from Christmas and birthdays? I don’t. The packaging describes them as being a whole Hazelnut in milk chocolate and nut croquante. Depending on the size of the box that you buy will determine how many of these luxury chocolates you get. They are available in packs of 4, 12, as well as bigger cases including one shaped as a pyramid. They are more expensive than other chocolates at around £3.99 for the box containing 12 chocolates. I think that these are quite unique chocolates as I don’t think I have ever had any other chocolate that tastes the same as these, so although more expensive they are definately worth it. Each ferrero rocher is individually wrapped in a gold foil and placed in a little brown cake case with a small sticker on the top of each one. There are four layers to these chocolates, starting in the middle first. This is a whole hazelnut, this is surrounded by a soft and smooth praline. A wafer encases these and looks like a small ball. All of this is then covered in a layer of chocolate and finely chopped nuts. Another thing about these chocolates is that I only know one person who eats them whole. That is my mum. Everyone else I know likes to eat each layer individually. These people are like me. I nibble away at the outer layer carefully biting of all the nuts and chocolate until I am left with the wafer ball.
This is where it gets tricky. I then try to bite a little bit of the wafer off so that I can get to the lovely creamy dark chocolate praline that contains the nut. It can get very messy eating them like this. Which ever way you eat yours you will find that they are deliciously rich and satisfying. They are very moreish and the box does not last very long. They are great to eat after dinner, the only downside is that you usually have to share them because there are not many people I know that do not like them. These chocolates are obviusly not suitable for people who suffer with nut allergys as the main ingredient for them is the hazelnut.

- 01/01/04 We had some of these on our works Xmas do a few weeks ago. The funny thing is, they were a gift to someone on the table and she left them there. Later on a girl thought the waiters had given them to us, and passed them round. It was only halfway through the box that she noticed, we all felt stupid.
Happy New year xx
