Refreshing Little Lifts
Tic Tac are small little breath mints. They are made by the confectionary company Ferrero and have been produced since 1969.
Tic Tac mints come in a transparent little plastic box. They have a flip lid at the top which allows you to get the mints out and then it clicks back into place to secure the top and stop the mints falling out. The nice thing about this box is that it is small so easily fits in your bag, it keeps the mints fresh and clean (how many of us have found months old Polo mint packets in the bottom of our bags that have dust and dirt on them and then throw out the rest of the packet!)
They come in lots of different flavours including mint, spearmint, orange lime and a fairly new flavour cool cherry that I tried the other day and it was really lovely. Apparently years ago the individual Tic Tacs were dyed depending on what flavour they were but nowadays the plastic box is a certain colour and the Tic Tacs inside are all white. I found this out when I bought the cherry Tic Tacs. The plastic box was red and I was expecting the sweets to be red but they were actually white!
Like I said the mints are fairly small, pretty much the size of a headache tablet but I have to say they are very strong and powerful. If you are using the mints ones as a cure for bad breath or to take away food smells on your breathe then these mints actually really work. I generally find that even just one will do the trick and keep my breath nice and fresh but unfortunately they are quite fun to eat and I see them more like sweets so usually end up eating quite a handful when I do. They are probably about 50 in each little plastic box so they will go far if you do save them.
They are actually in the number 1 position in the U.S. breath mint category, fairly good going as there are so many varieties to choose from out there.
The sweets have a thin sugar shell coating to them so are a bit hard and when you bite into them they have a hard inside but it does crumble up fairly quickly. If you go for a flavour such as Cherry or Orange I find they are quite true to the flavour and very strong. They seem to be quite tangy as well whichever flavour you choose but this is a nice aspect of the sweet.
Their unique selling point I think must be the fact that each Tic Tac is only two calories. Ok, so they are small but if you do only have one or two it's a much smarter choice for a breath mint than some other sweets that have more calories such as a Polo mint which has about 6 calories per sweet (hey, every calorie counts!!). In fact one of their marketing slogans was "2 hours of Tic Tac freshness in less than 2 calories".
In my opinion, great little mints for great fresh breath!!
