There is a lot of focus these days on having a healthier diet, and it has long been recognised that one of the healthiest diets in the world is the Mediterranean diet. The Mediterranean Diet however is not just one diet but reflects different diets from countries that are around the Mediterranean Sea. One thing these diets have in common is the use of Olive Oil which is known to be one of the healthiest oils that are available. Once we see the healthier side to Olive Oil over other oils we are then confronted by different types of Olive Oil that can be purchased. And this is what the bulk of this review is about. In many ways Olive Oil is like good wine in ... Read the complete review

Mmmmmmmm. Somehow I always end up buying Filippo Berio olive oil, thought I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s because I know it’s excellent quality. Perhaps it’s because I love the taste and don’t feel the need to try another brand. Or it could be due to the fact that it’s available all over the world so wherever I’m living – from Manchester to Spain to Austria to Germany – I can always find some. Of the 1300 sorts available to buy on Yahoo, this is still the one I go for, and eating the cheapo mass produced stuff in the canteen here has done nothing to weaken my resolve. Olive oil comes from, erm, olives. Not ... Read the complete review

Olive Oil has always been something that me and my family have used in abundance since many many years. The predominate use has been in cooking and in Salads and our favourite Hommos (A lebanese dish made from ground chick peas) Brand of choice has and will always be Fillipo Berio Extra Virgin Olive Oil. The name though complicated signifies quality and from people who know their olives. The company came into existence in the mid 1850's in Tuscany in Italy. Of all the regions in Italy, Tuscany is the best known for producing the finest Extra Virgin Olive oil. Unlike Extra Virgin Olive oil from many other Mediterranean regions, whose ... Filippo Berio olive oil is a 100% natural, high quality, olive oil. It is called 'virgin' olive oil because it is the best oil which comes from the first pressing of the olives. (There are other grades, right down to third and fourth pressings. The quality gets progressively worse with each pressing until the oil produced is not fit to eat.) This olive oil has a wonderful aroma that reminds you of the Mediterranean and a mild taste with just a hint of the olive. (Some olive oils are strong tasting and the olive flavour tends to over power anything else.) Olives are grown in the Mediterranean and Middle East. The trees are evergreen and have small ... I use a lot of olive oil and prefer to use Filippo Berio's more than any other; the taste is exceptional and I always go for the extra virgin variety. Olive oil is very useful; I use it in some of my bread recipes, to roast vegetables, including potatoes, and, rubbed over baked potato skins before baking makes the skins really tasty. That was a Jamie Oliver tip and it really works. Olive Oil has a low burning point so, although I'd like to use it for stir-frying, I use ground-nut oil or sesame oil instead. The oil is far healthier for use in cooking than many other fats being fairly low in calories and I find I need to use less than ... Read the complete review
