Flora Buttery

... different I have no idea. Flora Buttery is packaged in a tub like many of the margarine/spread products on the market. Peeling back the foil lid under the real lid reveals a very yellow spread. There's no buttery smell which is rather disappointing. The consistency of the spread is rather like soft butter. It does, indeed, spread very easily on fresh bread. The taste, however, is far from good. It tastes metallic and artificial and not in the least like butter. I've been told in the past that one should always ...more

Crowned Review Flora Buttery: BUTTER ME UP. (708 words)

-0- BUTTER ME UP -0- If I have toast or bread, I want butter on it and lots of it. I adore the flavour of rich, creamy, unsalted butter. It really is quite unhealthy the amount that I eat of it. So in a bid to cut down on my cholesterol I searched for a tasty spread that was not too 'margarine' in flavour. I am not keen on the olive oil spreads or the cheaper brands of 'Butter Alternatives'. So when Flora bought out their 'Buttery' I thought that this might just be the answer to my problem.- Flora is an excellent brand and one that has a solid reputation, so I was more than happy to part with my cash and begin my trial of this NEW Flora ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Yellow Fat Anyone? (472 words)

I am a butter-holic, I cook with it and spread it in huge quantities and I've NEVER found anything that comes even remotely close to the comfort that hot buttered toast can bring. I'm not that worried about my health and so alternative spreads have never had any appeal for that reason. Butter is not, however, always convenient. In the winter, in particular, it can be particularly hard to spread on fresh bread (I've never been a proponent of keeping butter in the fridge) as it's often too solid. This was the reason that I saw fit to respond to a supermarket promotion on Flora Buttery. I've tried spreads before and without exception have found them all ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Flora Buttery: Buttery taste but its not butter! (369 words)

I really do love butter, there is nothing I enjoy more than a couple of slices of toast smoothered in butter. However seen as I am on a constant quest to watch my weight 'real' butter is something I only have as a treat. Flora Buttery is definetely the next best thing. I like Flora as a brand anyway and would buy normal Flora all the time before their Flora Buttery came out, but as soon as I tried Flora Buttery I could not believe how nice it was, it really is a great alternative to butter. Flora Buttery comes in a bright yellow tub containing 500g. It costs £1.50 but is currently on buy one get one free at Tesco. You can get margarine cheaper ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Good But Not Good Enough (313 words)

Flora Buttery is a recently launched product from the popular Flora range of spreads. It's a margerine style spread like most of their products are, but this one is a mixture of vegetable oil and buttermilk in an attempt to mimick butter. It costs £1.55 for a 500g tub which is about the going rate for a brand name spread these days. My first impressions of this spread were relatively good. I could definetely tell it wasn't butter, there's no doubt about that at all, but I did think it was noticeably richer and creamier than other buttery spreads - especially the Tesco version. I like that this tastes a little bit like butter, but is as easy to ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Flora Buttery: When is Butter not Butter? - When its Buttery (849 words)

Flora Buttery........ Now since St Ivel Gold has stopped being sold in any shops on the island (not sure if it has been totally discontinued?) I have tried many different spreads and found the lowest fat/calories to be Flora Extra Light so whilst on my healthy eating regime I have been using this. However at £1.80ish it is more than other spreads especially if there is some kind of offer on. Which is how I came to having a tub of this Flora Buttery in my fridge this past week or so, because it is currently on offer at Tesco's half price for 82 pence. This of course is a good price for a 500 gram tub of margarine and I really couldn't justify ...  Read the complete review
