Having written ops recently on both Trebor Extra Strong mints and Tic-Tacs on another well-known site, I thought I'd now do one on Fox's Glacier Mints, another of my favourite mints. Fox's are quite a well-known name. They make everything from biscuits and cakes to sweets and mints. The Fox family first started producing sweets back in 1897, but they only started making Glacier Mints in 1918. The 'Fox' name is still going strong today, with other varieties of sweets now available, including 'Strawberry and Blackcurrant' and 'Liquorice and Aniseed'. For those of you who have never tried Glacier Mints, let me tell you a bit about them first. They are ... Read the complete review

I always like to have a packet of mints in my car, as I am often out and about at meetings with work and find having a packet of mints is always handy, especially if you have had something a bit spicy for lunch. My need for a new packet of mints is how I came to purchase the Fox's Glacier Mints. Fox's state that "Back in 1897 the Fox family started producing sweets. Eric Fox first established Fox's Glacier Mints in 1918. Their sweets, plus delicious new varieties, are sill being produced under the watchful eye of 'Peppy' the UK's favourite polar bear. I needed something to refresh my mouth the other day and had run out of the usual chewing gums that I so faithfully carry in my pocket. Seeing my distress my friend handed me a few of these. I haven't had them for years and I was surprised to see that they are still being made. The mints are shaped like a square but they dip in the middle. The are clear and are packaged in a clear wrapper. They come in a sharing bag of 200g and cost £1.25 I'm not so keen on a mint that blows your head off during the sucking process so these suited me just fine because although they were 'minty', the flavour was subtle. I was able to keep it in my mouth and enjoy a ... Read the complete review

Foxes Glacier Mints have been around for a very very long time. I can remember TV ads showing a polar bear floating around on an ice cube- which with global warming turned out to be sadly very prophetic. The company having been trading in sweets since 1897, started making these mints in 1918. PEPPY the polar bear has been floating on one ever since then and so you have to admire his stamina. 200g of Foxes Glacier mints are sold in my local Sainsbury's at £1.25 per pack- but I don't think I have ever paid that, as they are invariably on offer-buy one get one free. buy two for two pounds or, as with my current pack 50% extra free. Fox's Glacier Mints are one of those 'sweets' that seem to have been around for ages. I remember them when I was a kid, as well as the various different other companies who have produced something similar. The mints are basically small, oblong hard, boiled sweets, which have a smooth exterior that is ever so slightly see through. It's almost like you can see the mint being infused into the sweet. Each sweet is individually wrapped, and once you unwrap them (which is very easy to do) and pop them in your mouth, you do get an instant mint flavour coming through. A lot of similar sweets either have a bit of a fabricated taste, or the mint doesn't come through ... Read the complete review
