Advantages: Delicious taste, Reputable brand, Suitable for vegetarians
Disadvantages: None?
Fox's were established in 1853, so it's only fair to say they've had plenty of practice at biscuit making! The 'Crunch' range of Fox's biscuits come in 7 varieties, and Golden Crunch Creams are one of these!
A little research on the Fox's website revealed to me that Golden Crunch Creams are the only biscuit variety in the 'Crunch' range that are stocked in a percentage of all the major supermarkets (Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Somerfield, Kwik Save, CoOp, Waitrose and Iceland) - this doesn't mean they're guaranteed to be in all those supermarkets, but it does mean all those supermarkets have them in their product range, so availability should be no problem.
So, when you get to the supermarket you're going to need to know what to look out for! Golden Crunch Cream biscuits are bite sized - if you really wanted to you could fit one in your mouth whole... they're stacked on top of each other, and packaged in a bright yellow wrapper with the navy coloured Fox's logo taking up a large proportion of the wrapper, a picture of the biscuit and the name. This should give you a bit of an idea of what kind of package to look out for if you've not tried them before!
Once you get them home and unwrap them you'll smell them as soon as the wrapper is open. They have a delicious scent difficult to describe, but it's a mixture of the golden biscuits and the cream sandwiched between the two biscuits. The name really does suit the product perfectly - the biscuits are always a golden colour. As you bite into the biscuit this is where the rest of the name comes in - these really are very crunchy biscuits... not hard biscuits as such, they're not too hard to bite, but they do have a very satisfying crunch, and as soon as your teeth have got through the crunchy biscuit they glide through the smooth cream filling.
With the biscuit part of this snack being so crunchy, and the cream part being soft in the middle the combination of textures makes these great for those people who just can't eat a biscuit by biting it (you people know who you are!) - you can easily pull the top biscuit off the sandwich with your teeth and eat the second layer on its own, or even scrape the cream off with your teeth before eating the second biscuit in the sandwich!
Alternatively these biscuits are great to dunk in your tea - the fact the biscuit is crunchy makes it withstand a good dunking before it dissolves and falls into your mug! The creamy centre melts slightly when you dunk it and adds a delicious taste to your tea too!
Nutrition wise, Golden Crunch Creams are suitable for vegetarians, but they are made in a factory that uses nut ingredients, they contain cows milk, soya, wheat and gluten. Per biscuit you're looking at 75kcal and 3.8g of fat - though if you're on that strict a diet you need to know the fat content maybe you shouldn't be thinking about these anyway!!
Golden Crunch Creams cost around 58p for a 200g packet, though they're often on offer, for example I believe at Tesco they are currently on a 2 for £1 offer.
Fox's describe these biscuits as "Delicious crunchy biscuits sandwiched with a smooth creamy filling". That's definitely a good summary of what these biscuits are! If you've not tried them, give them a go... Enjoy!!
