Advantages: they look lovely

Disadvantages: the price, taste and size lets them down

Needing something nice to keep me going through the long weekend at work last weekend, I went completely against any idea of trying to save money and bought the first thing on the shelves in the biscuit aisle that caught my eye.
I am a massive fan of anything that resembles a combination of caramel, chocolate and shortcake, so these Millionaire shortcake biscuits leapt straight into my basket. They give off an impression that they are very posh biscuits due to the name, and the packaging teases you with a small snippet of what you might expect to find inside.
The picture on the packet shows some nice rippled chocolate with a thick layer of caramel, all sitting on a nice biscuit base.
I was practically salivating before I had parted with my money for these biscuits.

Opening the packet I was instantly disappointed to see how small each one was. I should have known due to the image that they wouldn't be very big. Still I had paid over £1 for this packet of 12 biscuits.
Each biscuit is little more than a mouthful but does still look nice and represents a true picture to the packaging.

Picking the first one up to take a closer look at it, I noticed that the chocolate topping overtook the caramel and the biscuit base. These would melt left in a heat for very long and then it would result in making the biscuit look even smaller than it already does.
A nice thick layer of chocolate none the less, but I couldn't see very much caramel, and this proved to be actually sitting inside the chocolate which was a great let down for me. There's nothing better than sinking your teeth through both chocolate and caramel to get the mix of flavours. I was hoping this would still happen for me but was beginning to doubt it.
The biscuit base was fairly crumbly, but managed to stay intact through the eating process. If these biscuits had been any bigger then you may have been faced with a crumbly mess, but seeing as they are easily eaten within one or two mouthfuls then there is no issue here.

There are good flavours to the biscuit, the chocolate being a very rich milk chocolate variety. The thickness of it helps to hold the richness. I wouldn't have expected anything less when you are eating a biscuit with the word millionaire in the title.
The caramel on the other hand which was hidden inside the chocolate was almost the same quality as eating a rocky bar from the same manufacturers. I was very disappointed in this and was expecting a thicker sugary caramel mixture.
Thankfully the biscuit made up for the caramel let down. It had a nice texture and buttery taste, although when eaten altogether it was just like eating a posh chocolate biscuit with a bit of runny caramel inside.

Overall I wasn't very impressed with these biscuits. I would have preferred to spend a little more money and buy the supermarket's own caramel shortbreads that are cooked in store.
I gave over half the packet to my family when I got home. They both seemed quite happy to eat them, but as we are cutting back on goodies then I think they would have devoured anything with chocolate in the title.

For nutritional purposes these biscuits will provide you with 79 calories and 4.2 grams of fat per biscuit.

Summary: a below average posh biscuit

Try the Thorntons ones - super tiny, but divine.
