This was news to me..Fray Bentos is the name of a small town in Uraguay ! I have only ever thought of Fray Bentos in terms of convenient and satisfying pies and suet puddings. Sales of these delicious yet humble pies and puddings soared during the 70`s and 80`s due to fierce television advertising.Last year Fray Bentos sales topped £30 million pounds. I kept it in the cupboard and had the chance to try it only recently and here is what I thought of it. To begin with, Fray Bentos pies are on the cheap side; Each 475g canned pie costs no more than £1.52 - £1.55 and it gives two servings.
