Premium Review Fruit Bowl Fruit Flakes: Very disappointing, very misleading (910 words)

They looked very tempting and appealing in their brightly coloured red and white packaging in Sainsbury's supermarket.... It had pictures of 'real strawberries' on the packet..... And they were on offer at only 72p! I decided to put the 'Fruit Flakes - strawberry with a yoghurt coating' into my trolley as I was feeling a bit peckish. As I am currently on a diet I thought that they would make a great healthy snack. After I had packed my shopping into the boot, I got into my car and thought I would sample them. I opened the pack and grabbed a few in my hand....My first impression was that they looked a little like 'teeth' in ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review What happened to plain old boring fresh fruit?! (385 words)

I'm writing this while finishing off a bag so that I can capture the taste and texture as best I can (... and because I am a pig and cannot stop eating even long enough to write a review!) These are little flakes of fruitiness. They have grown on me a little. I started a bag yesterday and my first instinct was utter disgust but eating them now, they are actually ok. Maybe it's because I know what to expect. They are quite sweet but have a sharp quality as well. They are coated in something white and powdery and slightly chalky - no idea what it is but it isn't sweet, which confuses my tastebuds. They are a bit chewy, like a penny sweet but much ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Fruit Bowl Fruit Flakes: Not really flakey but definitely fruity (364 words)

I pack my lunch everyday to take to work and also pack a lot of little healthy snacks to eat throughout the day so that I don't succumb to our vending machine chocolate bars or all the fattening treats my colleagues "kindly" bring in to share. I also can't eat salty food so I'm always on the lookout for treats other than the low-fat crisps. This is why fruit flakes appeal to me so much. I have tried several flavours of fruit flakes since my first packet which was given to me free with a newspaper a couple of years ago. I think this was when these flakes first appeared on the market as I hadn't seen them before getting them for free. This review ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Fruit Flakes (343 words)

There are quite a few different flavours of fruit flakes and some have yoghurt coating, but I am reviewing the Strawberry flavour. I have bought these for years for my oldest and recently my youngest tried them for the first time and loved them. I tend to think these are slightly healthier than sweets but they taste quite sweet and one of the ingredients is sugar but it doesnt say how much is added. My daughter says they are nice and they do have a strawberry taste (although she thinks the yoghurt coated ones are too s, weet and sickly). My husband had a bag once and he reckoned they gave him more energy to play football! Fruit flakes ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Fruit Bowl Fruit Flakes: Fruity treat (304 words)

Fruit flakes are found in the home baking section of the supermarket. They are packages in very nice bags. The flavour I chose to sample was called Tropical. This particular flavour was packaged in a silver foil bag with appealing pictures of passion fruit and apricots. When you first open the bag there is a nice fruity smell. The flakes themselves are covered in a fine dust substance which I guess is to prevent the flakes from sticking together. The flake are a nice chewy consistency. They taste very nice. They are very fruity and very sweet. I like a bag of these as a treat every now and again. I find that if you eat them one by one they last ...  Read the complete review
