Advantages: Sumptuously decadent and indulgent in its taste; lower fat than some other choccy bars;

Disadvantages: If you buy a multi - pack, can you trust yourself not to keep popping back for just on more piece?

Fry's Chocolate Cream is one of those choccy bars that was around when I was a little girl (many moons ago now!) so maybe that's one of the reasons it is still one of those special comforting tastes to me.
The combination of the fondant cream filling and the rich dark chocolate melts in your mouth in a very satisfying way. The taste is very indulgent, reminiscent of far more expensive chocolatier fondants that usually cost an arm and a leg. For about 40p, you can really have something that tastes far more special than the other chocolate bars. Even better buy is in Tesco's or Sainsbury's where you can get a 3 - pack for about £1.05 ... but can you really eat just one? Even putting them in the fridge, so's I could segment them and just suck on one piece (in the trying-to-lose-weight-game I thought this would help me cut down) I found I kept popping back in there for just one more!

Having said that, they are lower in fat (albeit high in sugar) than some other chocolate bars, so can be utilized as part of a lower fat diet. The taste definitely gives you a feeling of indulging yourself - something that could go well with a nice scented bubble bath and candlelight when you feel a need to pamper yourself.
When I was about ten, you could get one with five or six different sections including orange, strawberry, and pineapple. I have a vague memory of an almondy marzipan like one too. I know they do bring out special editions now and again, and that peppermint pops up occasionally too. I guess the original sells more steadily though, although I did used to enjoy the fruity one when I was little.

As someone else wrote in their review, we used to have fun with them, breaking each segment separately so that the flavours were each quite separate and distinct. And I remember rubbing the silver paper lining to get an imprint of the Fry's name underneath too. Many years ago. Just think, today's kids will never have those memories ...
Among chocolate bars this gets a 5/5 for taste, value, comfort factor. One of the best. Sad that Fry's are no more having been assimilated into Cadbury's somehow. They were one of the originals from Victorian times, and used to have Cocoa Powder as well. Ah, how time flies and things change. better get one quick, before they disappear altogether!
