Just when you think you know all the different kinds of chocolate there are out there, along comes a new revelation from Galaxy called 'Amicelli' which sneaks up on you unaware and leaves you bewildered. Where on earth did it come from? Have I been burying my head under the sand or has there been no advertising whatsoever for it? Not surprising really as they are absolutely gorgeous and Galaxy rivals obviously don't want this exotic little beauty widely known!

*** An Exotic Chocolate Bar? ***

Ok so it may not be that exotic but it's name is definitely interesting and is French in origin. It's packaging is also something a little different. Instead of the usual wrapper these come in a pack of 16, first in a hexagon shaped box, and then each finger is wrapped individually inside.

With a delicious mixture of light wafer, a delicious hazelnut praline and smooth, creamy milk chocolate, Amicelli promises a taste sensation you will never forget.

*** How good it smells! ***

The smell of sweet milk chocolate immediately greets you as soon as you open the little individually wrapped packet. It really makes the mouth water and you can tell you're going to love the taste! To me it smells a lot like cadburies and it looks like a cadburies finger too. Maybe it's an imposter? Only the taste will reveal the truth!

*** I'll never forget the first time! ***

On first bite after you have crunched through the chocolate layer and wafer you are greeted with an incredibly smooth, melting hazelnut center. It tastes just like nutella and it's gone almost too quickly. The taste lingers in the mouth wanting more.

Second bite and the mixture of wafer and hazelnut is really building up some pleasure now. It's almost too much as it slowly melts and releases the smooth texture of the hazelnut.

Third bite and it just keeps getting nicer. The hazelnut seems to be getting stronger and overpowering the taste of wafer though the wafer is still there lingering not wanting to be forgotten.

Fourth bite and the chocolate is fighting back. That definite galaxy taste. It's smoother than cadburies and melts more in the mouth hence it's references to silk everytime it's products are advertised.

Fifth bite and the chocolate and wafer come together nicely before giving into the hazelnut once more. Now you really want more it's like a climax, you're taste buds begging for more.

Sixth and final bite. I savour the flavour letting the chocolate melt onto my tongue leaving the wafer crumbling under the pressure releasing the hazelnut for the very last time. I close my eyes and let it all slide down the back of my throat leaving very satisfied tastebuds behind slightly tired from the Amicelli experience.

*** My opinion on... ***

1) The Smell and Taste

As I said the smell was really inviting. It had a lot stronger chocolate smell than anything I've ever had. The sweetness was really nice and it really did make my mouth water. As for the taste it was absolutely divine! The mixture of milk chocolate, hazelnut praline and light wafer went really well together and complimented each other enormously. Maybe it's the fact that I hardly have chocolate these days but the taste was completely divine and definitely worth every second of sin that will no doubt lead to the hips! It did remind me a lot like nutella as I said. I remember when I was younger I used to love buying little pots of nutella and eating the spread with my fingers. It was so nice and it was great to be reminded of that taste.

2) The Size Of The Fingers

Each finger is approximately 3 inches long. They look just like cadburies fingers and only the taste saw that they were not. At first you think they look a bit small. How can something that small be filling? But I was pleasantly surprised and now I think they are just the right size and they'd possibly be a bit sickly if they were bigger.

3) How Many Do I Need To Fill Myself Up?

The most I've had at a time is two. Now I can see how I could have three but after that I think they would be far too sickly. The taste is very sweet and although it is heavenly to start with it could soon get too much. After all you know what they say about people who are greedy and the same rule applies here, if you have too many you'll get a shock.

4) Who are they aimed for?

Obviously the main target group for any chocolate is usually women though I think that is unfair as not all women are chocolate lovers and there are plenty of men who love it more than us women I am sure!

It's packaging makes it look quite fancy and almost like royalty chocolate which would make it a great little centerpiece at a party or fancy do.

All in all I think most chocolate is always advertised more towards adults and this one is good enough to be for both men and women.

5) Calorie Counting

If you are on a diet or watching what you eat you may be interested in the calorie content and fat content enclosed within each finger. Now personally I'm watching my weight (obviously not literally) and to be quite honest I didn't even bother looking at the calories. I wanted a treat and so I had one. Whocares how many calories are in it? I won't be having another one for a while and with adequate exercise the calories will be burned off before they have a chance to settle in. Anyway I'm waffling. There are:

64 calories per finger
3.4g fat per finger

Calorie wise that isn't bad at all. In fact it's quite good! Although I'm afraid the fat content to me seems a little high for something this size but as long as you don't eat too many you'll be fine!Altogether in the pack though there are a staggering:

1014 calories
54.2g fat

So if you do go a bit over the top and eat them all I'm pretty sure you'll be regretting it. But store them away in the cupboard and eat them gradually and you'll be fine. Or you could always share!

6) Price and Availability

Now here's the tricky bit. I got these as a gift from my fiance's aunty and I have absolutely no idea where she got them from. I've tried looking on the tesco website but they don't seem to sell them and neither do asda. After reading another review on these I can see that the price varies between just over a pound to just under three pounds depending on where you shop. However I cannot vouch for that but it seems about right. At a guess I'd say just over two pounds. If anybody does see these around please feel free to let me know where they got them from. Failing that I could just ask my fiance's Aunty lol.

*** My Overall Opinion ***

I absolutely love these and will definitely be getting them more in the future. They are extremely good as a treat and although I've always preferred cadburies, this is one time I can make an exception. I'm not a chocolholic, I've always preferred savoury things such as crisps over chocolate, but these really have got me hooked! I really would recommend them to anyone. The only problem with them is the availability!
