Advantages: Tasty, Surprisingly filling

Disadvantages: Expensive, Too small

As a full time convenience store supervisor in the summer, and a full time student the rest of the year, I?m used to eating on the go, and I?ve recently become addicted to these scrumptious little bars of heaven.

Admittedly, they?re a little bit expensive for what they are, but when you have to deal with problematic customers, shoplifters and the occasional essay deadline, they work wonders to fill that nagging void in your stomach, let you escape the world for two minutes and also give your taste buds a mini orgasm.

The packet states that the Buffet Bar is ?savoury pork sausagemeat filled with crisp coleslaw, soft cheese and mayonnaise?. Mmm? I?m munching on one now actually and I can?t get enough of them (I generally eat two or three during each shift I work, an given that I work five or six days a week, I get my fair share of these).

It?s about three inches long (who says that size matters?) and has the appearance of an elongated scotch egg with little black spots of pepper along it. Bits of carrot are clearly visible when you bite into it and there?s a subtle hint of pepper, which also leaves a nice after taste of peppery lemon. As you bite into it, it is crunchy and crispy and oh so delicious.

Even before you open the packet, you can get a whiff of pork through the packaging and I don?t know about you, but I?m a practising omnivore and this is the perfect solution for that.

The packaging itself has a picture of the product itself on the right with a small portion missing showing the interior set against a red background. The brand (Ginsters) is written on a white copy set against a lighter hue of red than the background and also has a Cornish shield above it. This in turn is above an image of what looks like a coastal beach of some sort. On the reverse of the pack is a drawing of a kite with a description of C&
#72;ICKS (registered charity number 1080953), which stands for Country Holidays For Inner City Kids, which provides holidays for underprivileged kids around the UK (donations can be sent to: CHICKS, Freepost EX335, Devon, PL19 0QJ).

You can expect to pay about £1.05 (CAD$2.40) for one of these.

If you?re allergic to wheat, gluten, egg or milk, then steer away from this.
