Advantages: Gorgeous!
Disadvantages: Pricey at usual price :(
I love these things, love them I do!
I remember pestering for them when they first came out and as I've grown up I still love them now, lol!
Its' the novelty of eating cheese that stretched into a long tube and how rubbery they are I think.
As a kid you don't think that is it a healthy snack you are eating unlike you parents who buy them you to get you to eat more calcium! It is the novelty factor of being able to peel these tubes apart and play with your finger food that is cool, not the health benefits...
And even though I'm grown up we still get them in or a snack treat and for my lunch box as I really love the flavour and chewy texture so much :)
Made in Ireland from medium fat hard cheese each 21g portion contains 69 calories plus 5g of fat and 5.9g of protein. Packaged in a funky plastic outer wrapper and then in individual sealed plastic wrappers that you just peel open.
The calcium amount is 26% of a child's recommended daily amount and each snack contains a 200ml (half pint0 of milk.
There are no artificial additives which is good, and the cheese has just been gently heated and stretched into the pipe tube shape...
Suitable for vegetarians, these should be kept in the fridge as with all dairy produce and these last for ages. My pack of 'Twisted Cheestrings' which was half price in |Morrisons this week at £1.18 for eight lasts for three months so that's cool!
The Twisted variety is a light cream and then an orange coloured cheese merged together to create a striped effect, they are really good to look at and lovely to eat.
The flavour is quite strong and you can taste the salt but it's not unpleasant, each portion is about five inches long and you find that one is enough. It is fun if you want to unravel them, or you can make patterns on toast with them and then melt the pieces....
I think these are a great snack and can fuel a child's imagination too so five stars from me. The only down side to them is when they are full price as they are quite expensive which is a shame :(
Summary: Buy them!! ;-p
