Advantages: crunchy, full of flavour, lush!

Disadvantages: pretty high in calories for crisps

Each to their own when it comes to crisps....some people like the thick, chunky cut of the McCoys crisps, or maize snacks, or thin cut Walkers crisps. I do love a savoury snack over chocolate most of the time, but when I found these in the supermarket the other day it was like a step back in time - I hadn't seen them in ages! This retro snack would indeed be the Nik Naks of the Rib N Saucy variety!

Encased in a bright purple foil packet with white text on it are these delightful "knobbly, freaky sticks of corn". They also come in other flavours such as Nice N Spicy and Scampi and Lemon. These were all bought together in a multipack of 6 from Farm Foods, I can't remember the exact cost but it was around £1.

Here is the basic nutritional rundown per 25g packet:
calories - 141
fat - 9.6g
carbohydrates - 12.5g
of which sugars - 1g

So as you can see, moderately high on the calories front but totally worth it. On opening the bag, they were exactly the same as they were in the good old days - each knobbly corn stick was unique, some were shorter than others, some were very skinny and some were really chunky. Each niknak had a decent coating of the flavouring on it and there weren't many crumbe at the bottom of the bag - always a bonus. The taste was difficult to describe but delicious, similar to ribs with some kind of flavouring on them. They all have a good crunch to them as well, none of them were soft or too hard to bite into. Personally I prefer corn and maize snacks to potato crisps, they just make me feel less guilty for some reason.....

Although some crisps do not fill you up, these are a good filler between lunch and dinner, for example. Some crisps are too light, too greasy or too salty but Niknaks are full of flavour, light but filling and delicious for a treat now and again, as part of a healthy diet kids!

Value wise, the packets do seem rather small, but are worth what you pay for them; I'm just greedy and want them to make massive bags though to be honest! They are full of flavour, fresh, crunchy and just downright delicious!

Serving suggestion: serve with chilli dipping sauce or stick in chicken fajitas - delicious!

Summary: try them!

Not one of my favourite Nik Nak flavours. Good review though :)
