One of my colleagues at work very kindly handed me the remaining biscuits of his packet of Green and Black's Organic chocolate flapjack Biscuits, when he handed over his shift to me, and I have to say, I was very impressed. I have enjoyed Green and Black's chocolate, so know what good quality that is, and their chocolate flapjack biscuits live up to the same high standards.

The packet is a rectangular box, dark brown in colour, with a picture of 4 of the biscuits, and some chunks of Green and Black's chocolate with them as a serving suggestion.

The label says Green and Black's, with Organic written below that. Below the picture is Chocolate Flapjack Biscuits and the description Soft chocolate biscuits dipped in our bittersweet Dark 70% chocolate. There is a soil association organic standard symbol also.

When you open the box there is a plastic partitioned container wrapped in a clear film packet, to seal in the freshness of the biscuits. There are three partitions and three flapjack biscuits in each section. The packet my colleague gave me was already open, so as I pulled the packet out of the box, the rich chocolatey smell hit me. I was salivating already. Each biscuit has a thick rich dark chocolate coating on one side, and looks like a home cooked chocolatey oaty biscuit on the reverse.

I took one out and bit into it. I was really surprised to find it soft and chewy, definitely more flapjack than biscuit, but then I remembered it had said on the front they were soft chocolate biscuits. The chocolate hit was intense, and the flavour absolutely delicious. I'm not particularly a lover of dark chocolate, but I know good chocolate when it hits my tongue and this was excellent. The box tells us that when they decided to make these flapjack biscuits they needed a recipe that would complement the chocolate's bittersweet intensity, so they used a simple combination of flour, sugar butter and oats with coconut and their cocoa powder all bound together with syrup to create a soft eating flapjack. They certainly achieved that. The sweetness of the flapjack with the hint of bitterness of the dark chocolate is a fabulous combination, and they just melt in your mouth, leaving the intense chocolate flavour. Superb.

I couldn't eat a lot of these, in fact one was enough, so a pack of nine biscuits, although it doesn't seem many, would probably be the equivalent of three times that many of any other biscuits. They don't come cheap though, the 150g pack sells for £1.84 at Sainsbury's They are definitely worth the money for a treat though, and as they are organic, they are healthier than ordinary biscuits, even if you couldn't argue that they were healthy.
