Hmmmmmm, chocolate! I have to confess to a slight... an ever so slight partiality to the stuff. In fact, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that if they started making baked beans with chocolate sauce, I'd try them on toast. For my money, G&B is the best brand of supermarket chocolate. Most of the chocolate on sale in the UK doesn't really have that high a cocoa content, but Green and Blacks bars are full of it - so you get a real chocolate "kick", as opposed to a sugar rush when you eat them. This is good news in another way, too, since it's the darkness of chocolate that creates some of its health benefits (yes, benefits!)... when eaten ... Read the complete review

I wrote about Candburys Bournville earlier on today and compared it unfavourably against my favourite dark chocolate, Green & Blacks Maya Gold. It is so much better than Bournville. It has a luxurious taste and texture that to me screams quality. Maya Gold always seems very fresh to me not like it has been sitting on a supermarket shelf for months, whcih I know it has but that isn't the point. This chocolate is very, very rich and has a delightful bittersweet flavour which should be true of all dark chocolate. The bar is seperated into small chunks and I think this is because of how rich the chocolate is. It has a very distinctive flavour ... Read the complete review

Me and my mate shared a big bar of Maya Gold today when she came round, I stuck a pizza in and we had a few malibu's and other goodies that were no good for our diets! lol Maya Gold is made by Green & Blacks and it's yummy but very sickly and I'd never be able to eat a full bar to myself, that shows how filling it is because I REGULARLY eat full bars of Green & Blacks! It's dark chocolate and smooth with no bits like a lots of Green & Blacks chocolate, the chocolate has got a yummy warm and spicy flavour. I can taste orange, cinnamon and ginger in the chocolate plus loads of other things as well and it makes the chocolate taste just ... Read the complete review

When i became Vegan it was quite a big step as one of my staple foods has always been chocolate, and almost all chocolate in the uk contains milk. Green and blacks however make chocolates (not specifically for vegans) and some have no milk in, Maya gold is one of these. It comes in a dark wrapper with a dark orange header which gives me the impression that its going to taste of orange, well if it does it certainly isnt like terrys chocolate orange. I decided the only fair way t review this chocolate was to eat some whilst i review it, yes its that good ill find any excuse! Taste: So i peel back the two wrappers and im left with a darkish brown ... Read the complete review

Maya Gold is an organic Fair Trade chocolate bar made by Green and Blacks. It cost £1.65 for 100g, so whilst it isn't the cheapest chocolate bar out there, it is not an overpriced luxury either, and the taste and improved quality is well worth the extra expense. The flavour is bitter-sweet, dark and spicy, with hints of orange. Although it is a dark chocolate, it is not excessively bitter. This is probably because according to the label, it contains 55% cocoa and 45% sugar. If, like me, you like chocolate but find 70%+ cocoa chocolate too harsh, give this one a go - I find that it's very easy to eat. Sadly, perhaps, too easy - 100g does not last more than two ...
