Green & Black's Organic Vanilla Ice Cream

Now, as someone who has type 2 diabetes I am not supposed to eat many sugary things, and ice cream is pretty much a no no, unless I have diabetic ice cream, which you can buy around these parts (Barnsley) or ice cream just flavoured with fructose, which I havn't seen for sale locally. However, every now and then I treat myself to a little ice cream, and as it is only now and then, I do not mind how much it costs and at around £3.50 - £4, for 500ml, this ice cream is not cheap. I have one major problem with ice-cream. And that tens to be hiding it from my darling children. They just don't appreciate the good stuff. And this is the good stuff. To that end I don't buy it often. However, this was on special in Tesco the other week so I thought what th heck. I went for some yesterday to find 85% gone and the tub looking like it had been involved in a fight with the frozen chips. Green and Black's Organic Vanilla ice cream is seriously indulgent and let's face it if we do not spoil ourselves now and again then no one else is going to do it for us. I cannot say for one minute that I eat gallons of ice cream but I am choosy about the small amounts of ice cream that I eat. I love Cornish vanilla and find that it makes a good dessert either on its own or with fruit or used instead of custard or cream. Haagen-Dazs has a marvellous and exciting range of flavours and textures to offer but if I had to pick between the two, Green and Black's Organic Vanilla would come out tops. I'm a big lover of ice creams and always like to spend a bit extra to get a decent quality make rather than put up with those awful cheap soft scoops the supermarkets churn out at £1 a litre. This is a premium end ice cream that comes in a 500ml tub, the same size as Haagen Daaz and Ben & Jerrys, and usually costs £3.99 a tub. I say usually, because I just got this on offer in Tesco for £1.99 which I thought was a very good price. I always feel drawn to the premium brands of ice cream, they kind of pull me in to the point of almost buying, then I get a jolt when I see the price and it sends me back to the real world. Believe it or not I have never even tried Ben & Jerrys even though I know all the different varieties by heart.
