Advantages: Satisfying enough to have just one
Disadvantages: Not suitable for nut allergy people
Hi all - this is my very first review on Dooyoo..and it had to be Gu brownies.
Now, I'm not a chocoholic, workoholic or anything else ending in holic...so there was no reason at all to buy Gu brownies....other than Sainsbury's were doing a 2 for £5 for 2 (normally £3.98 for box of 4) and I thought it would tempt my son to help me with the shopping if there was a wicked treat at the end.
This is the important bit:
Each bar contains 50% cocoa chocolate, 200 kcals per square (rectangle, actually), 5.6% fat and 14.2 gms sugar (which is approx 3.5 teaspoons)
So appearance is deceptive, you feel you could eat the whole box, but you do feel full after the first chocolately scrumptious bar.
Talking of the box....the design and shape of the box would make you think they're a box of rather expensive chocolates.
Wrapped in tastefull striped foil wrapping paper, they would make an excellent token pressie....maybe thank you, or sorry (although you're not that sorry, because if your apology isn't accepted, you have a lovely box of Gu's to console yourself).
Onto the Gu brownies themselves. As the first bite melts into a pool of velvety, dark rich chocolate.....you drift into another world.....bringing you back to earth is the soft morsels of chocolate and pecan nuts which need light chewing.....so you're already burning off those naughty calories......
Not really the texture of a brownie, more like the best creamy, fudgey treat you've ever had.
Not too sweet and not too bitter, the flavours and textures compliment each other perfectly.
A taste sensation unequal to any other!
I'm going to try my next Gu brownie with hot custard (just thought of that idea)
Thanks for reading (if you haven't already raced off to the Gu section of the supermarket) hope you like them as much as I did.
Summary: A little taste of luxury - Gu on - indulge yourself......
