Advantages: Delicious, cleverly shaped, nicely coloured.
Disadvantages: Not that good for your health.
This box of chocolates was one of three brought to our house recently when we had a bit of a gathering. There were a couple left over so I thought I would do some extra testing and report my findings!
Firstly, this product is made by Guylian and inside the box you will find sixteen chocolate seashell-shaped pieces. The packaging is attractive , with a see through window to see what is inside which I think is a good idea, because that way you know what you're getting and whether you get much for your money (unlike when you open a bag of crisps and it's barely half full). The front of the box is plain white with the Guylian logo in gold at the top, as you can see from the picture above.
I think that these chocolates are about £4. As I said I did not buy them on this occasion but have in the past and that is what I remember them to be. For sixteen chocolates, that is quite expensive and they are in what I would think of as the Ferrero Rocher price bracket. They were a really nice gift and you know that the person hasn't picked out the cheapest product they could find (probably because she knew she would be eating them too!).
As I said, inside the box you get sixteen individual chocolates. They are in a black plastic tray but they are not individually wrapped which I think is good because in a tray like this that would be a waste of packaging.
The chocolates are all chocolate shells filled with a soft praline inside. The taste does vary slightly because of the coating. Some of them are covered more in milk or more in white chocolate than others. The taste inside is the same. In my opinion it is delicious. I am a big fan of chocolate in general and I like praline. In the praline you can taste the nuttyness of the hazlenuts but it is not a very prominent flavour and I think the flavour that comes over is a smooth and creamy one. The chocolate coatings are also very creamy.
The chocolates are different shapes and sizes. I think the different shapes adds interest to the experience and I can't think of any other chocolates that are shaped so cleverly (except perhaps from specialist shops like Thorntons). Some of the chocolates are slightly bigger than others. If you're giving them to children I'm sure they'd fight over who got the biggest one!
As there is praline inside there are nut ingredients in these chocolates so it is not suitable for people with nut allergies. The chocolates also have quite a lot of sugar so they aren't very good for you, but I heard that chocolate sales have rocketed in the recession and it's no wonder, because although the aren't healthy they will make you feel better!
I recommend this product as either a treat or as a gift.
Summary: Recommended.
