Advantages: Tasty, creamy, good mixture of milk and white chocolate
Disadvantages: None at all!
Having just celebrated my birthday (we won't go into the age!) I was lucky enough to receive a box of Guylian Seashell chocolates from my friend. Being a big chocolate fan it is a wonder why I have never had a box of these before. I tend to go for milk chocolate varieties but the Guylian Seashells are Belgian chocolate so I was very interested and slightly excited to see what they tasted like!
The box that I received was 250g in weight and in Tesco you can buy them for the price of £3.57 however you can also buy the smaller 65g box for 84p. Guylian also produce chocolate truffles in milk, white and dark chocolate. The box that I received contains 22 chocolates whilst the smaller box contains 4, which makes it an ideal stocking filler for Christmas.
The box itself is mainly white in colour and the Guylian logo can be found on the front of the box in gold lettering, making it look very classy! There is a piece in the centre of the cardboard box that contains the chocolates which has been cut away with a piece of clear cellophane in its place, this allows you to see a few of the chocolates through it and I have to say that they look really appetising! If first impressions do count then these look good!
The box contains a lot of writing but on closer inspection, it is the same writing but in a variety of different languages. The writing on the front simply tells you that the box contains 22 Finest Belgian Chocolate seashells. When you turn the box to the back it has a picture of the chocolates at the top and on the bottom right gives you nutritional information. Again, there is a lot of information but it is again different languages, all giving the ingredient listings.
To open the box you need to pull open the front of the box at the bottom, it lifts up and you find the chocolates, all in a variety of shapes but all following a seashell theme. They are all sat in a black plastic tray, each chocolate in its individual slot. The upper part of the tray also tells you that for each box of Guylian chocolates brought that money is given to 'Project Seahorse' this is where money is given to the Charity trying to stop the Seahorses disappearing from the bottom of our Oceans, who knew that buying a box of chocolates could help with that?
Onto the chocolates now and I have to say that I was really impressed with the taste. The chocolates have a hard chocolate shell and when you bite into this you reveal a lovely looking truffle. I am not normally a big fan of truffles as I find them to rich but these Seashells are spot on. They have a 65% praline content and this is spot on in my opinion. The chocolate is a mixture of milk chocolate (34%) and white chocolate (25%). The chocolates also contain hazelnuts but I have to say I could not really taste these.
The chocolates are really easy to eat and are very smooth in texture. I could easily eat 3 or 4 without getting that rich taste from them. They are a nice size, being about 3 to 4 cm in length and are very Moorish! With having the mixture of white and milk chocolate they are really creamy and I think this is why I liked them so much, easy to eat without being to rich for a truffle filling.
A few pieces of nutritional information are as follows (Per 100g)
Calories ~ 546 kcal
Carbohydrate ~ 53g
Fat ~ 35g
In summary, I would like to thank the friend that brought me these chocolates (!) They are a lovely tasty treat and if you have not tried them before I would firmly recommend them, the price is in comparison to other boxes of chocolates on the market and they available in most Supermarkets.
5 out of 5 from me.
Thanks for reading.
Summary: Treat yourselves to a box! Very tasty!!!
