Advantages: taste heavenly, look attractive, ideal as presents
Disadvantages: slightly more expensive, sickly after too many
Being a self confessed chocoholic; I have various preferences in this department, however next to the usual British bars and the like, my favourite is Belgian Guylian seashells. These come in 2 sizes and are not cheap; a large box will cost you £5 or more but worth it believe me! They are made as various seashell shapes and have a marbles effect of milk and white chocolate, and the centre is packed with praline. Now they look attractive and taste even better, but can be quite sickly after a lot…trust me I know about this, however once I start I cant stop eating them!. You may have seen various other brands of Belgian sea shells around, the cheapo ones, but I do not recommend you try them, they are nothing like Guylian and the let down is the chocolate itself, Guylian is rich and very luxurious in taste, where as the others are like our own unbranded chocolate taste. They do also have special boxes with only a few in at 99p, so If you want to try them then this is ideal without buying a large box. Plus at Christmas you get seasonal boxes and Easter offers you a Belgian chocolate egg, filled with shells. Again quite pricey at £5.99 but the price is worth every penny for the quality and taste. One thing to remind you here is that they are not suitable for people with nut allergies, so please check before buying as a present. These are stocked in all supermarkets and confectioners so are not hard to find, I really recommend them if not for yourself but as a present as the detail on them is excellent too, you almost want to keep them, well for 1 minute anyway…… ENJOY Ana x

- 04/07/01 These *are* nice, but yes, they can get too sickly if you eat too many at once - but it is just TOO tempting, LOL! |
