Advantages: 3 lovely varieties, all the eggs are rich and smooth tasting, mine were cheap
Disadvantages: ---------
Please note before you start reading that I am still being good on my diet because I wrote this review at Easter but I had filed it away in the wrong folder and forgot all about it.
I had never seen Guylian Quatro until my local papershop started selling a 200g box for only £1. 50 which is very cheap and I love Guylian chocolate so just had to buy a box.
Guylian Quatros are little eggs that are a lot smaller than Cream Eggs but bigger than Mini Eggs, they are perfect mouth full size and I can pop a whole egg in or bite it in half if I am feeling a little bit more restrained.
There are 3 different varieties of egg in the box and these are white chocolate rice crisp, milk chocolate orange and dark chocolate truffle. They are all lovely chocolates and because the box is so attractive I can sit down and imagine I am eating a really expensive box of chocolates.
WHITE CHOCOLATE RICE CRISP.
I do not like white chocolate very much and thought I probably would not be very keen on this one but it is lovely. It is only the shell of the egg that is white chocolate and it is filled with a lovely truffle and rice crispies mixture. It is nice and sweet with a creamy consistency, I liked sucking the egg until I was left with a lump of truffle and crispy pieces and then I chewed these because they are nice and crunchy.
DARK CHOCOLATE TRUFFLE.
This egg was my favourite because I love dark chocolate. They tasted a little bit like Lindt dark chocolate. It is a very rich chocolate that is lovely and creamy and the shell is a good quality dark chocolate that is sweet and rich. Inside the truffle is also dark and stops short of tasting like the Guylian praline bar but still has a nice subtle nutty taste. This is a creamy and very smooth chocolate egg and I would love to find somewhere that sells boxes of just this variety.
MILK CHOCOLATE ORANGE.
Even though the box says this is milk chocolate I think the shell is more like dark chocolate and it is a smooth chocolate with a rich taste. The orage centre is lovely, it is not a soft centre but the filling melts very quickly in my mouth. It is similar in flavour to an orange Aero but a little bit more bitter like the orange cream chocolates in Quality Street.
All of the Guylian Quatro eggs are lovely. Because they are all so rich they can get a little sickly after a while and I found I could not eat more than one of each variety in one sitting, but then a second sitting could come anything from 10 minutes later so I have not done my waistline any good!
Summary: A lovely selection of chocolates.
