Advantages: creamy, chocolatey,
Disadvantages: cost unless on offer, could easily eat whole pot!
Those of you who have read recent reviews of mine will know I'm partial to a scoop or 2 of good quality ice cream, Haagen Dazs is a particular favourite, especially Belgian Chocolate.
When you open the plastic lid and remove the flimsy plastic film you are presented with a mid brown colour chocolate ice cream with many dark brown flecks throughout. You can faintly smell the chocolate scent, so you have to lift the pot closer to your nose to inhale the rich Belgian chocolate aroma.
After waiting a short while for it to melt and then taking a few 'hard to scoop' scoops into your bowl, you can then taste the creaminess mixed with the rich chocolate and tiny lumps of something (not sure as what yet!) which melts delightfully in your mouth, you are left with a subtle chocolate taste, which is pleasurable, and not at all sickly. As this seems to happen so quickly you can't wait to take the next spoonful. When my bowl was empty I had the urge to go and eat more and more, I'm sure if the wife was out for the evening I would have eaten the whole tub.
Determined to find out what the small flecks were, I went back to the freezer to read the packaging, and have a sneaky extra spoonful - for review purposes :> and found that they are in fact chocolate fudge pieces. During the tasting of this sneaky spoon, rather than allow the small fudge pieces to melt I chewed them, and found them soft, they weren't at all chewy, just fudge like and very scrummy.
Would I recommend this ice cream? Well yes of course, you could combine it with a good quality vanilla or just indulge on its own, just be warned, if you are eating it on your own, you may find yourself eating the whole tub in one go. Saves on washing up though!
This pot was dated until 03/09; I can assure you all it will be eaten long before that date!
Contains: Milk, Egg, Soya ingredients.
100ml contains: 286kcal, 4g Protein, 25.5g Carbohydrates, 18.6g Fat.
Our 500ml tub cost £ 2.49 in Tesco, along with other varieties, they are on offer, reduced from £3.99. I would happily pay full price for it; offers are a bonus and encourage me to buy more.
Summary: An indulgent belgian chocolate ice cream everyone should try.
