Advantages: Everything!

Disadvantages: I can't stop eating it once I start and I spend way to much money on this

Haagen Dazs Belgian Chocolate Ice Cream has to be my absolute favourite ice cream by a long shot. For me, no other ice cream even comes close! I've been a lover of this ice cream for many years, so I was over the moon when I craved it throughout my pregnancy with my daughter. My partner will tell you that cravings are mind over matter, and that pregnant women only crave what they want to eat. Well, I certainly have no "want" to sit and eat chalk (or plasterboard might I add) and never have other than during my three pregnancies. So I can say that I know for a fact that cravings are real and that pregnant women do not have control over them. However, I have to admit (and please don't tell my partner) that the Haagen Dazs Belgian Chocolate Ice Cream was probably more of a want than a need.

Haagen Dazs ice creams generally come in a 500ml cardboard tub with a plastic lid. You get smaller sizes at the cinema and the likes, but the 500ml tub is the one most commonly found in supermarkets.

When you open the tub, you will find it filled to the brim with a chocolatey looking ice cream with speckles of rich belgian chocolate all the way through - not chunks - there is no biting or chewing required and you certainly don't need to worry about not getting many, these are all through the ice cream and are the perfect size.

Personally, I don't like this ice cream straight out of the freezer. OK, that's a total lie! I don't NOT like it that way - I would eat this ice cream on a sandwich if it was the only way possible. I guess what I should've said there was, I PREFER not to eat this straight from the freezer. I would much rather leave it sitting out for 10 minutes (yeah right, like I can wait that long when I need a quick belgian chocolate fix), but I'm more commonly known to bung it in the microwave for 20 seconds - any longer and you may find you need a straw! It comes out perfect - still as cold as ice cream, but just soft enough to be able to sink your spoon right in. I don't like putting this into a bowl either, it has to be eaten straight from the tub. The ice cream melts as soon as it hits your tongue and the chocolate is just the right amount to melt at the same rate as the ice cream. It tastes very creamy and the after taste distinctly chocolate which you can tell is the very best quality.

I always buy a tub of this with the weekly shop with really good intentions of making it last all week. However, although I can occassionally make it last for a second day it is a rare occurrance if I don't finish the whole tub in one sitting. Be warned it's too good to stop eating once you start, but the calorie count is huge!

A tub of the 500ml will set you back around £3.99 from most supermarkets - a little expensive, but worth every single penny! I recommend keeping an eye on the price as they often have it on offer in various supermarkets on 2 for £5.

If you're not watching your weight and you like chocolate, I strongly recommend you to try this, but remember, you have been warned, it'll suck you in and before you know it you'll be just as addicted to this ice cream as I am.

Summary: Love it! Love it! Love it! Mmmmmmmmmm
