Advantages: So Creamy it Hurts! Love the Cookie Chunks Too

As part of a Sainsburys promotion on Haagen Dazs we bought a tub of Cookies & Cream ice cream last week. The promotional price is 2 tubs for £5 but usually this costs £3.99 for a 500ml tub. I know that sounds like a lot but this is well worth it.


Firstly you need to leave the ice cream out to thaw for about half an hour before you can eat it (or even serve it) as it's a very dense ice cream that freezes solidly. Once it's ready for eating, this serves up nicely though beware that the cookie chunks can get in the way of your spoon a bit when you're dishing this up.


The texture of this is really amazing. It's like the creamiest vanilla ice cream you could imagine. It's soft and smooth and just melts in your mouth. This is definitely only for cream fans this one as it really couldn't be creamier. There are loads of chunks of chocolate cookies in various sizes scattered within this ice cream. It doesn't specify a brand of cookies used but if you've ever had an Oreo then that's pretty darn close to the cookies used in this ice cream. They really melt in your mouth as the ice cream softens them nicely.


I know that the standard RRP of this ice cream is quite high but as a treat this is well worth every penny. The taste is to die for and the texture is really interesting and well blended. There's enough here to serve two to four people. The Mrs and I polished this off between us in under half an hour though!
