Advantages: Great comfort food (if you need comfort) Tastes great, it's naughty, I love it.
Disadvantages: It's expensive, its fattening, its naughty!!
Ahhhh - I can't think of a better way to end a stressful day (or a not so stressful day) than to relax, lay back and chill with a tub of Haagen-Dazs Pralines & Cream. Yumshuss. I usually buy Yorkshire Dales ice-cream as it's cheaper and of a very high quality but lately I've felt the need to pamper myself and go the hole hog with this delightful stuff. Very satisfying for the tastes buds, in fact I would go so far as to say it's a veritable taste sensation. What I love about this stuff is the creamy texture of the ice-cream and swirls of caramel which melt lovingly over your tongue and when you get a pecan nut well what can I say but WOW. The nuts have been caramelised to add that extra crunch and taste, which all adds up to a really fabulous ice-cream experience (okay this may sound a bit over the top but give me a break - I don't get out much these days, lol). The caramel tastes like maple syrup to which is also a favourite of mine. If your on a diet (which I'm obviously not as I'm eating at least two tubs a week, naughty, naughty) then avoid this treat like the plague. It's full of sugar (yum) nuts (yum, yum) and cream (yum, yum, yum). On with the information so I'll get right down to it!! You'll noticed if you decide to buy this that there's no information on the nutritional value of this ice-cream and that's probably because most people wouldn't buy it if they read how many calorie's or how much fat it contained! I know I would (this is not a typo, lol). Here's a list of the ingredients so you can draw your own conclusions in that department! Ingredients: Fresh cream, skimmed milk (at least its skimmed and not full fat), sugar, caramel (10%) (sweetened condensed skimmed milk, sugar, glucose syrup, water, butter, salt, gelling agent : pectin, natural flavouring: vanilla), caramelised pecan nuts (7 %), (
sugar, pecans, butter, salt, corn syrup, egg yolk, natural flavouring : vanilla. So as you can see there's nothing really gross in there and it's all natural. Not that that makes this a healthy option but at least its not full of EEEE's like those soft scoop ice-creams which I find rather horrible and not a taste sensation by any means. Price, Availability & packaging: Well this is the down side to this heavenly treat, it?s soo expensive for the amount you get. A 500ml tub will set you back £3.27 on average and that?s rather on the expensive side. I usually pay around £2.50 for a litre tub of Yorkshire Dales ice-cream, which is just as good a quality but unfortunately for me they don't do Pralines and Cream and that's my fav at the moment!! The up side is it's widely available. You'll probably find it in most supermarkets and even in your local corner shop, if you're a movie buff (which I am) then you'll also find it in most good video stores too. The packaging is pretty - a nice sort of burgandy tub with a gold pattern. It obviously has the Haagen Dazs logo and a nice piccy of some pecan nuts and toffee on the front and lid. Nothing to write home about but then it's whats inside that counts isn't it! I find the best way to eat my tub of heaven is to: Hide it out the way of my other half as he tends to eat the whole lot. Have a good movie on the box, preferably something funny (if this isn't possible, then go for a horror (this way you can hide behind your huge tub of ice-cream). Let it soften for at least a minute before scooping it out of the tub with a ladle (if a ladle isn't to hand then eat the whole lot out of the tub as you know someone else will nick it if you don't finish it off) Remove all feelings of guilt when you have demolished the lot by simply hiding the empty tub under the left ov
er dinner in the bin (this way everyone is happy). Add a chopped up Cadbury's Flake (just to add extra naughtiness the already naughty treat). Have it on a cornet (this may be difficult if you decide to try and fit the whole tub on there). I have awarded this product with only **** stars as I find it a bit on the expensive side but if there were stars just for taste then I'd definitely give this a ***** star rating. Thanks for reading and good luck with the diets for those of you who are thinking you NEED SOME ICE-CREAM, lol.
