Advantages: Yummy

Disadvantages: Calories and Sugar

I bought this while I was travelling as I couldn't find the Haribo Starmix.

History of Haribo
It all starts when a man called Hans Riegel start up a company called Haribo in 1920 2 years later, he invents "Dancing Bear", which later will be known as the HARIBO Goldbear. Soon enough all of Germany were supplied with Haribo sweets and the slogan translated "HARIBO makes children happy" was advertised on the packets. Hans Riegel sadly died but his son Hans Jr took over the company. In 1982, Haribo goes international and sets up a headquarters in USA. Then the ball started to roll and a couple years later, Haribo was worldwide spread.

Haribo has a massive variety in different sweets. They make marshmallows, liquiers, soft chewing sweets, gummie sweets and so on. The number one selling Haribo brand is is Haribo Starmix. Haribo Happy Cola is the 13th most popular packet.

I bought them on P&O ferries and they cost me £1.20 but they retail from 99p to £1.35. You can buy them in corner shops, supermarket, petrol stations etc. The packet contains 225g of Happy Cola's.

Although on the packet the slogan says "Kids and Grown-Ups love it so the happy world of Haribo", just by the colours you used that it's meant to apply to children more than adults. The words Haribo Happy Cola are in a mixture of white and yellow with a black rim around it and the background is red. There's a small see through window made so you can see what the happy cola's sweets look like and there's a starburst with the words NO ARTIFICIAL COLOURS. On the side to that, there's big cold bottle of cola that's squirting out cola just the top.
On the back, there's the list of ingredients in many different languages. Can't see any E numbers in the list, which is good.

I rip open the packet and they smell a bit syrup and soap to me. All the bottles are stuck together so you have to break one of the ball of the Happy Cola's in the packet.
I take one out and squish it a bit. Happy cola's look like small cola bottles. See through yellow at the top and cola brown colour at the bottom. It's even got a small label like logo. Two small lines.
I pop the sweet into my mouth. Now, there are two ways to eat a Haribo sweet. One is just eating one and suck on it, which is what I'm doing now or just taking a handful and stuffing it in your mouth. It tastes a little cola but more so of just sugar. While you're eating it, it's chewy and you have that wonderful gummie sensation. Hmmmmm Yummy.

Overall thoughts
Looking back, I can't believe how many packet of Haribo I've eaten and never looked at the calories or the sugar content. I mean a bag full is more than 800 calories and 131.4g of sugar. Ouch. To be honest, if my kids ever wanted to eat these. They will only have one a day and that's it. Otherwise, it would just rot their teeth.

Summary: Just a little cola bottle is okay
