Cola bottles always remind me of being a kid, going to the shop to buy penny sweets when penny sweets actually cost a penny! Cola bottles could be found in all sweet shop's penny selection and I always put a few in my bag.

Yesterday while buying a few bits of frozen food from Heron I noticed bags of Haribo Happy Cola bottles at the till. Unable to resist I purchased a bag for the princely sum of 39p, not bad for 150g of cola bottles.

I ate half the bag yesterday and the other half today so the estimated portion they've put nutritional statistics for is on the low side at 40g but it's probably intended for a guideline for child size portions.

The cola bottles themselves are very chewy and plump, taste like flat cola which works in a sweet but not as a drink! They don't taste especially sugary but they are. The nutritional facts are as follows:

Carbs 78.9g of which 58.4g are sugars

The bag is mostly red with Haribo in large yellow letters and Happy Cola in large yellow and white letters with a cola bottle on the front and a clear section where you can see the irresistable little devils!

So high in sugar and low in fat, typical for jelly type sweets and well worth knowing so you can control your child's intake of sugar as well as your own.

As an occasional treat though these sweets are tasty and inexpensive. Recommended.
