Advantages: chewy
Disadvantages: bland
Haribo are the undisputed king of sweets, and here they have released a bag of non sugar coated cola bottles. They are the ones that come in Starmix, and they must be popular, because now they've gone it alone!
Priced at around £1 for a 200g bag, these cola bottles don't look very appealing from the outside looking in. They leave a slimy trail on the see-through plastic, and seem to sweat a bit, which doesn't make them very appetising.
When you open the bag, the smell that hits you is the distinct smell of flat coke. It reminds me of a poor childhood of rola cola, and again isn't too appetising.
Taste-wise, they have a very strong cola taste, but again it is flat cola. There's no spark or fizzle to them, and that means they're quite bland. I much prefer the fizzy sugar coated ones, which have a more 'real coke' vibe to them with all that fizz.
Texture-wise, they're quite rubbery in your mouth, slipping and sliding everywhere. Surprisingly, though, they're quite hard to bite into, and take a bit of effort to break.
Nutritionally, they're still high in sugar, and should only be eaten in moderation.
They are small enough that young kids will be able to eat them, but they may struggle to bite and chew them.
All in all, I can only think these will appeal to those who don't like the fizziness of the sugar coated ones. For me, they're too bland and subtle, and bring back dark memories of a dark childhood.
Summary: not too interesting
