Advantages: Satisfy a sweet tooth.
Disadvantages: High in sugar.
Having just re-stocked my sweetie cupboard with an array of Haribo sweets, I thought I'd treat you all to a review as I munch away on 'Kiddies Super Mix'...
Super Mix is just one of a vast array of bagged jelly sweets produced by sweet giant, Haribo. This particular variety is just 'plain', i.e. no fizzy or sugary coatings...which could be construed as a bit of a downside as it's very easy to eat lots of them in one sitting!
The packaging is an eye-catching bright red, with a transparent window through which the tempting treats can be viewed. The sweets themselves are classed as 'fruit flavour & sweet foam gums', & come in various guises such as shoes & frogs (both of which are jelly with a foam back), milk bottles (which are softer), & (my fave!) jelly babies. The sweets come in different colours & each has it's own flavour. The fruit flavours are most apparant in the jelly babies however.
Looking at the ingredients, the sweets do contain fruit concentrates such as blackcurrant, grape, lemon, mango, orange & passion fruit. There are however artificial flavourings added also, which is why the packaging doesn't shout about the flavourings within, instead simply highlighting the fact that the sweets contain no artificial colours.
As with any sweets, they're not a healthy option. 100g provides 344 calories, 79g carbs (of which 63.4g are sugars) & 0.2g fat.
Various size bags are available - from the 'kiddie-sized' bags priced at 10p, to the bags I've just bought - 225g. These large bags usually retail around the £1 mark, but can be found at Asda currently for a mere 50p! (Hence the stocking up....!). (Price correct @ July 09).
