Advantages: The best sweets out there?

Disadvantages: Don't go well with your teeth

Haribo has to be by far my favourite food product ever! I am completely addicted and actually fantasise about it when I haven't had any for a week, sad I know! I think this addiction started when I was introduced to it from a very young age as I used to live in Germany the home of the Haribo, and the love of it has stayed with me since.

Haribo has been around a long time. Since 1920 in fact, when it was created by Hans Riegel Sr in Bonn. The name 'Haribo' is actually an acronym for it. They are the biggest manufacturer of gummy and jelly sweets in the world, which means luckily, I can pick up my fix where ever I am. They are so big there was even a travelling exhibition about the history of Haribo in 2006, in Germany!

I suppose I would call Starmix the 'classic' Haribo mix and it's probably the most well known and popular. It stands out from the shelf with it's bright blue packaging and features an eye catching picture of a child taking of in a red and yellow rocket amongst stars and planets. 'Haribo Starmix' is in bold and it also features the tagline 'Kids & Grownups love it so, the happy world of Haribo' - how true. There is also a big window enabling you to see all the delicious sweets squashed against the packet.

As soon as you open the packet you are hit by the smell which is sweet and almost fruity. It's not overpowering, it just makes me want to eat them even more.

There are five types of sweets:

Gummi Bears - Teeny little bears, your typical gummy sweet. These come in lots of fruit flavoured colours - yellow, clear, green, red and orange and you can taste the fruit flavours in these more than any of the others. I find these the easiest to chew as they are so small. Also available to buy as a separate pack known as Goldbears.

Coke Bottles - Miniature coke bottles, one half coloured brown, one half clear, they taste of coke! These are my least favourite, not sure why, I find them too chewy I think.

Hearts - These are half strawberry flavoured, half foam. I usually bite the foam off first, tasty but like the coke bottles too chewy sometimes.

Rings - Gummy rings, so much fun! You can eat them but you can also wear them! I have been known to go on a night out wearing these and once my boyfriend proposed to me with one (he was only joking but I think that would probably a great way to propose to me!) Like the bears they are very fruity flavoured, they come in two tones so you get a mix of fruit. I like to stick my tongue in the middle and suck the flavour out.

Fried Eggs - My favourite. A round circle of foam topped with an orange jelly circle. I like them as you get the best of both worlds - jelly and foam but they aren't too big or chewy, just right!

I'm not sure why they're so addictive probably as they are packed with an alarming amount of additives and colours, oh and don't forget the calories and sugar! They aren't exactly healthy but they are certainly the best out there in my opinion!

There are 344 calories per 100g and 0.2g of fat. You can buy them from supermarkets for a 300g bag which is quite big. They aren't often on offer so if you see them anywhere cheap then I advise you to snap them up!

They are made from boiled hooves though. When my kids at school discovered this they were disgusted.
