Advantages: OOH EVERYTHING :-D
Disadvantages: TOO MUCH SUGAR ETC...
I was at the dentist last week for my routine 6-monthly check up and almost fell off the chair when she happily informed me that I didn't need any work done to my fillings! Ok, to be fair I WAS booked in for a scale and polish, but to be fair, this is part of my dental plan thingy and takes place annually! *smug smile*. :-D
Anyway, the reason for my surprise is that I love sweeties. Chocolate, gummies, marshmallows, you name it, I love them all. To be honest I'm surprised that my mouth isn't a complete and utter mass of metal fillings!
My love of sweeties was indulged somewhat yesterday, whilst out for the weekly shop, much to the disappointment of my other half. (His sweet tooth is much smaller than my enlarged 'sweet fang' though, to be fair!)
Yes dooyooers, I'm afraid that I gave in to the temptation and bought several large bags of sweeties, one of which was the "Tangfastics Sour Mix" by Haribo.
The packaging of my bag of 'Tangfastics sour mix' is a bit different to the one at the top of this page. There is no little 'Haribo's' boy on the front, but he does appear to have been replaced with a rather cheery-looking yellow teddy bear. The bag does however have a similar design to the one shown in that there is a clear cellophane section across the middle of the bag which is no doubt a huge marketing ploy in that the design allows you to see a selection of the delicious-looking sweeties within the bag. (The manufacturer's ploy most definitely works on me anyway, my mouth starts watering - and that annoying sweet tooth niggles - almost immediately upon glancing at the variety of sugary loveliness within the bag).... Grrrr!
The orange-coloured bag of sweets is a delicious mix of sugary, sour jelly sweets. At 225g in weight, it is really too large for me to eat it all in one sitting - I tend to dig in and remove a smallish handful whenever my tooth urges me to do so. (Which is quite often).
The Tangfastics mix is an assortment of fizzy/sugary sweets such as fizzy cola bottles, little sugary dummies and little fizzy cherries. Yummy! I have to admit that they are not the sourest fizzy sweets that I have ever had (the sourer the better for my tastes) but this may obviously be a bonus to some of you with a more sensitive palate.
The bag of sweeties cost me 70 pence from my local "Farmfoods" frozen food store, but I have seen them on sale in Tesco for around the £1 mark. There is a selection of other 'mixes' in the Haribo range such as 'Star Mix'(in a blue bag) and 'Goldbears' (little gummy bears sold in a gold coloured bag).
The tangfastics are by far my favourite though - mainly because of the sugary coating around the sweets in this mix - I know, I'm SUCH a child! :-p
The 225g bag of Tangfastics sour mix will provide you with 340 calories per 100 grams. *cough*...
Moving on....
On the plus side, however, the packaging proudly boasts about the sweets being Gluten free, Nut free, Milk free and Soya free, so if you have any allergies then the chances are that you will be ok with this particular bag of sweets.
I did intend to list some of the ingredients from the packaging at some point in this review, but after casting my eye over this information on the reverse of the packet, I have decided against doing so - I don't want to scare you off of these sweets! (Suffice to say that there is more than one mention of the word 'acid' within the list)... *cough*.
Ok, so these are clearly not the best option for those of you with an aversion to anything too sugary or overly sweet. They are very probably a firm enemy of dentists the length and breadth of the country.
I would love to say that I couldn't possibly be tempted by such a product and that I would rather choose to eat an apple or something. I can't do that though - these are here to stay! (In my sweetie tin if nobody else's). Lol yes - I DO have an actual tin for storing such goodies - I told you, I'm a child!
Top marks from this big kid! ;-)
Summary: A TANGY TREAT!
