Advantages: Cheap, easy to prepare, good source of protein

Disadvantages: None - unless you can't find the can opener

Heinz baked beans and pork sausages have been around since I was little and definitely come under the category of Winter comfort foods for me. They are very convenient to use - how difficult is it to open the can, pour into a saucepan and heat? And they taste great on slabs of toasted crusty bread.
The usual size can now is the 15oz one with 8 of the mini sausages in but I can remember when they used to do a smaller 7 1/2oz size with 4 sausages in. They came in handy for calorie counting when I was watching what I was eating. However, it's easy enough to split the contents of a can and freeze one half for another day. They do freeze well. I take them out of the freezer and thaw them in the fridge overnight, no problems with the taste changing at all.

Basically, each can consists of small pork sausages (cocktail size) in Heinz baked beans with tomato sauce. The flavours meld pretty well together, and of all the different brands, Heinz definitely tastes the best!
Baked beans are nutritious and add fibre/roughage into the diet, as well as being an excellent source of vegetable protein. The sausages are also a source of protein, so this is especially a good food for young growing bodies, or the elderly (who may not have much money to spend on grocery shopping).

Children like them and older ones can easily take care of themselves if they come home from school hungry and can't be bothered to wait until mum or dad gets home.
To use them as the basis of a full meal, you could simply add chips, or you could add to eggs and bacon for a decent cooked breakfast (I'd give each person 1/4 of the 15oz can) to to egg and chips for tea. Either way, they are a boon for busy mums, for students and others who don't want to spend a lot of time in the kitchen.

And they taste good too.
