Advantages: No fuss, no mess
Disadvantages: None
I am such a child at heart, my mum used to give me these all the time in various guises and they are still one of my favourite snacky type items.
These used to come in your bog standard tin cans, but Heinz have recently released these new style 'snap pots' which come in packs of 4. (Spaghetti hoops are also now sold in these)
What is great about this new packaging is that they are microwaveable so there's no need to get another container dirty in order to heat them up, and no tin opener needed!
You simply open the see-through sealed lid halfway, microwave on full power for 30 seconds, then stir and finish off for another 30 seconds, after which the beans are piping hot. Heinz couldn't have made this any easier! I don't have children myself, but my friend's 8 year old daughter is able to prepare these herself as there are no dangerous sharp tins to open.
As the pots are made from plastic, once rinsed out these are recyclable along with the cardboard surround packaging.
Summary: 100% improvement on tin cans

- 08/09/09 - I think Heinz has missed a trick, only the elderly eat this product and most don't have a microwave. A lot of them are unable to even open normal cans. |
