When it's cold, miserable and wet outside I love nothing more than sitting down to enjoy a delicious, warming bowl of soup for my lunch. I like to make my own soups with various ingredients and often make large batches so I can freeze some for future use. Sometimes, there just isn't enough time to prepare though and when hunger strikes you need to do something about it! I therefore tend to keep a few tins of ready made soup on standby in case of emergencies. The last time I wanted to stock up, my eye was drawn to a particular range - Heinz Big Soups. I'm a fan of Heinz' standard soups such as traditional Cream of Tomato amongst other flavours. These Big Soups ... Read the complete review

Living on my own, I often can never make up my mind what to eat and especially on a Sunday, I aren't going to cook a Sunday Lunch every weekend just for myself, unless I have company. Today i was particularly hungry, just a little peckish and didn't want to spend to long to cook something, its Sunday, Day of Rest and I aren't going to do a tap. I always keep soup in the house, don't eat a great deal of it, but looking through my cupboards, a tin of Beef and Vegetable Heinz Big Soup jumped out at me. Thats it, pour it in a bowl and microwave it for 3 minutes and thats it dinner done for me. The brand Heinz has been around for years, established in ... Read the complete review

When you hear the word soup even when it is heinz you streight away tink of a lot of liquid with a few tiny pieces of veg or meat in it but this one is very different. Heinz big soup is more like a stew than a soup, the tins are full to the brim with reasonable sized vegetables in a sauce to acompany them. Beef and veg is my favorite but the chicken is also nice. I was very shocked when i opened the tin to find that the pieces of veg are cut to a decent size and not something that would bet lost between the gaps in your teeth, The vegatables, potatoes carots etc are all cooked to be very soft but havent lost there flavour and the amount ... On the can it suggests that half a can is a single serving however I think this is a bit optimistic and I find that I can easily consume a can for my lunch however I would only have a small bread roll with it, any more bread and then I would struggle to fill it as these are chunky thick soups packed with vegetables and in the case of the one I had yesterday chicken. My other favourite in the minted lamb and vegetables which is also very nice. My soup did not have the most appertising of smells when I pulled the lid off however once it was being heated up it started to give off a much more pleasing aroma. The soup consists of some big chunks of ... Read the complete review

Heinz Big Soup Description: Manufacturer: Heinz / Type: Soup For those who haven't had Heinz Big Soup before, it is like Heinz others soups, only bigger! In fact, it is so thick and chunky that it resembles a stew instead of a soup. It is really filling and each tin is packed with tasty ingredients. I had smokey bacon, leek and potato this time, but will certainly be trying (and reviewing - watch this space!) some of the other flavours, especially now winter is here as they make a great, quick lunch which is quite healthy and delicious. The tin has a green background with the Heinz logo and a picture of the soup on the ... Read the complete review
