Rationing also made it difficult to produce soups in the UK. To solve this problem, Heinz came up with new products making soups out of local ingredients such as potato, lentil and carrot. Many of these varieties are still popular today.

I would buy a tin for this alone as I am not a fan of tin openers (lazy I know) On opening, a lovely tomato smell hits you, and when pouring the soup into a bowl or saucepan to heat, it has a rich, thick texture. The soup is the thickness that a good comfort soup should be - about the consistency of a white sauce. I usually microwave my soup, and it generally take around 3 minutes with a stir in the middle. It heats really well right through and I have noti...more

Premium Review Heinz Cream of Tomato Soup: 57 varieties, but this ones best (596 words)

Sometimes we all get a little lazy. We love to cook a proper meal, but we may not have the time or inclination to do so. So, more and more in our modern day society, we find ourselves at the mercy of convenience foods. Generally i like to think of convenience style foodstuffs to be a no go area, as they are quite often nutritionally poor, and also high in nasty things like salt (used as a preservative in many.). However, there are a few brand names out there that i will always use, and more importantly, trust. Heinz is one of those makes, and as such i will always be able to find a tin of heinz soup in my cupboard (for emergency use ...  Read the complete review

I'm not a fan of tomatoes. You know, with the seeds and the skin, and the general weird squidgy tomato inners (I'm fairly sure that's official technical tomato industry terminology). In my opinion there's just not much going for them. I don't even think real tomatoes taste that good. Tomato soup on the other hand... Hang on, firstly lets learn a little more about me (don't worry, I won't hold you back long). Basically I have the taste bud sophistication of an infant. And a relatively unadventurous infant at that. My previous food reviews have been on toblerone, hula hoops and tesco value noodles, for crying out loud!! Having said all that, I don't think it's ...  Read the complete review

I love anything with tomato included and tomato soup has to be my all time favourite! Heinz is a well known brand and they make the best tomato soup on the market! Easy to recognise red label and widely available.Open the pull tab can to reveal a thick tomato soup. The soup is easy to prepare, simply pour into a saucepan and heat gently. Boiling does spoil the flavour so just heat gently! Heinz tomato soup tastes wonderful and is great with hot buttered toast. We enjoyed the soup on bonfire night, very warming and delicious! Heinz tomato soup is not as good as home made as it does contain a fair bit of sugar and salt. However for ...  Read the complete review

I love tomatoes, so it should come as no surprise that I also love this totally gorgeous tomato soup from Heinz. It could be said that I was reared on it, as the kitchen cupboard at home when I was a nipper would never be short of a few tins of this delectable liquid. The only soup that ever had it beat for taste and flavour was my late mothers home made vegetable and lentil, and since it doesn't come in cans, and as the recipe died with her, it has been lost to posterity (and me, unfortunately!) forever. My taste for Heinz Cream of Tomato Soup (to give it it's official title) seems to have been passed on through the generations, as my own teenage ...  Read the complete review

Looking through my cupboard of various tins, etc. I came across the perfect food - Heinz cream of tomato soup. Standing out on my shelf in its bright red tin, it screamed out for me to eat it! PRODUCT AND PACKAGING Heinz cream of tomato soup is bright red coloured soup. It is thick and creamy, and tastes of, well, tomatoes! It is good to eat because it contains no artificial colours, preservatives, flavours or GM ingredients. Also for people who are vegetarians or are on a gluten-free diet, you can eat this too! The soup comes in a bright red tin with a decorative edge of tomatoes around the label, which is black and on the front and back that states the ...  Read the complete review
