Advantages: tastes great

Disadvantages: a bit dear

Soup is something that we rarely eat in my house unless someone is ill or I can't be bothered to cook. I do like soup though and I had a bowl of this soup when I was visiting my mother and it made me remember how much I liked it, so the next time I was in ASDA, I picked up a few cans.

The soup comes in a 400g can that is the typical cylinder shape. You can turn it over and open it with a can opener or use the ring pull to open the tin. The paper cover on the tin is red and it has pictures of tomatoes on it, as well as the original black Heinz logo.

The soup itself is very nice. It has a smooth and creamy texture that I like and it isn't too watery and thin unlike some other soups. The soup is a bland orange colour, not the red you would expect, but this does not do anything negative to the taste.

The taste is lovely with a rich tomato flavour and a slightly salty tinge. I like this soup hot or cold which is a bit odd as my daughter points out, but it is really nice eitherway. I know you can either cook the soup in a pan or stick it in the microwave, and I always put it in a bowl and put it in the microwave for 1 minute then take it out to stir it then put it back in for another 50 seconds. I usually eat my soup with a few pieces of bread to dip in as well, just to get more of a fill from the meal, because I don't find soup very filling.

A 400g can contains around 220 calories, not bad at all for a meal. You can have a can of this soup for a starter before a meal or you could add a bit of bread and have it as a meal although I don't think it would satisfy your appetite if you were really hungry. It is 81p a can in ASDA, not too cheap although it is a really nice tasting soup that is a good brand, so it's worth the money.

Heinz also do a wide range of other soups like chicken and barley and vegetable soups which you could try. I like this soup a lot and think it tastes great as a meal or starter, so give it a try!

Summary: A nice soup
