Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: None
The past couple of days in Coventry have been freezing! I went out today wearing a dress and got caught in torrential rain! Isn't that just typical?! When I got home I was so miserable and soggy and got changed and put on my ever faithful pj's and thought I'd soon warm up. However I must have been chilled through to the bones cos it didn't work! Hungry and tired I needed food and it needed to be hot! So I spotted a can of this in our food cupboard and decided to have that with some buttery toast!
The Packaging:
Bright red 400ml size can (in my case) with a handy (and sturdy) ring-pull to the top of it. On the front I'm told it is Heinz 'Classic' Tomato Soup which is the 'Original and the best', 57 varieties and there's tomatoes drawn on there. Other information on the back of the can tells me a bit about the product, heating instructions (on the hob in a saucepan or in the microwave for about 3 minutes), ingredients and allergy advice is given (contains milk), dietary information is listed as are full nutritional details and contact details for Heinz are given. Traditional looking can this is and I do like the fact it has a ring-pull to open it with ease.
Me And The Soup:
Upon opening the soup you are met with an orange, tomatoey, creamy smelling liquid. The consistency is smooth has body and it isn't like water and doesn't look greasy at all. I heated this can in the microwave and I've heated in the hob in the past and it makes absolutely no difference to the flavour at all. It warms through brilliantly according to the instructions given and when done it's a nice thickish consistency but still remains runny!
Taste wise...well it's tomato soup that tastes natural. It's well seasoned with a slightly creamy taste to it (there is milk and cream in here) and it's not overly sweetened.
What's nice about this is it is what it is. There is no hidden flavours or spice in it and it's simply packed with tomatoes (84%).
I think this is a heart and tummy warming soup that is superb on flavour and on quality and although it's not cheap compared to other leading brands that are on offer on the market, in my opinion when looking at canned varieties of this type of soup (smooth) it can't be beaten and when it comes to tomato soup I personally can't stand bits floating in it. It's well blended and delicious and warmed my poor old body back up quickly! Great stuff Heinz!
