Heinz cream of tomato soup is the original and best tomato soup. Both vegetarians and those on gluten free diet can enjoy it, it contains no artificial colours or preservatives.

It can be purchased from all supermarkets at prices ranging from 60-80p for a tin, and quite often I see a 4 for £2 deal at Tesco, which includes all Heinz varieties.

The soup is incredibly thick and creamy with 84% of the ingredients being tomatoes makes a wonderful orangey- red colour, which smells and tastes rich and flavoursome.

½ a tin contains just 113 kcals (however I can eat a full tin) and 5.9g fat.

The tin has one of those glorious ring pulls so you can take the tin to work for lunch without worrying about finding a tin opener from the office kitchen. You can eat the soup hot or cold (yuck). By warming the soup on the hob in a pan or in the microwave in a microwavable bowl (remember to cover it, as it will splash the inside of the microwave) both options will take around 3 minutes. You can eat the soup from a bowl with a spoon or sip from a mug. I always have to have fresh crusty bread with this soup and if I am eating it for dinner I sometimes have the soup with a cheese sandwich.

The wrapper is traditional Heinz red with tomatoes and the black shield which is easy to spot on the supermarket shelf. But don't forget there are 56 other varieties to try.
