Advantages: It lasts longer than it claims
Disadvantages: Artificial, expensive, small pot
I actually went to buy some of this from my local supermarket at Christmas and I actually got quite excited as I really love garlic mayonnaise.
So one friday evening I decided to do some fried mushrooms in breadcrumbs to have with my Heinz garlic mayonnaise. Before having my mushrooms I tried just a little bit and wasn't quite sure about it, so decided to make a little of my own garlic mayonnaise (Morrisons own mayo with a cuple of cloves of crushed garlic) so that I could compare the two.
I have to say that my own garlic mayonnaise was much much nicer than this Heinz stuff, as it tasted so much fresher. Despite smelling quite nice, the Heinz stuff tasted very artificial.
I don't remember exactly how much this mayonnaise was, but I do know it wasn't exactly cheap!! I think it was around £2 though. My supermarket's own brand mayonnaise (I use morrisons) only costs about 90p for a jar twice the size of this one, and I buy a pack of garlic bulbs for about 69p so this works out cheaper than the heinz stuff, you get more than twice as much and its ten times nicer. And it takes about 30 seconds longer to prepare!
The only positive thing that I can say about it is that it lasts longer than it claims. It says once opened refridgerate and eat within 4 weeks yet I have had it opened for about 3 months now and it still tastes exactly the same as it did back then!!
I really wouldn't recommend this to anyone when you can make your own and it would cost less and is much nicer!! So don't bother trying it!
Summary: Make you own garlic mayo, its cheaper, nicer and you'll get more for your money!
